MINI On The Dragon: 2009

I'm planning on going to my first MOTD this coming May. When and where do most of you stay to be close to the events and gatherings. When do you ususally make hotel reservations?

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks.

Any picture links to previous events?

The good news is it is good you asked this early

The bad news is it is too late to ask

Fontana Village is home base for MOTD and just about every other car/bike make that has a weekend up there - there's one most weekends. You can call but don't be surprised to hear that FV is booked solid already. Repeat customers tend to get their ressie in early

Options

- work your way out from Fontana...there are other places. The local MicroTel is popular as is Tampico Lodge - but don't be s'prized to learn they are also filled

- post a line here for a 'spare bed'. Much of Fontana is cabins and it is not unusual to find someone with a spare bedroom or at least a couch or floor space for a sleeping bag. I've sublet my spare bedroom b4....

- try the campgrounds, they tend to fill slower

good luck

Hope that you end up being able to make it. It should be a good time once again, and I know that Barry is already working on everything.

I plan on going to my first dragon this year I am very lucky as my in-laws just moved into Tellico village on the TN side a mere 15 minutes from the dragon.

We stayed at the Bluewaters Lodge last year, and it was amazing. I highly recommend it, and the food was the best (the scones alone are worth it)!!!!
