I'd been looking at stock size 205/45/17 for my used R97 Flame Spoke wheels for winter tires. But, 205/45/17 isn't a very common size. I've seen others that seem to say they can run 215/45/17 tires. I just wanted to clarify that I will be able to do so on the R97s without any problems. I realize I will be moving about 1.5% faster than my speedo says, but it's already about 10% fast anyways.

Thinking of either some Michelin X-Ice Xi2 or Nokian WR/WRG2.

Will this work?

 

Are they 17x6.5 or 17x7?

I believe 17x7. A NAM search of R97 reveals a couple For Sale posts that says 17x7. Looking to see if I can find something more official...

215/45-17 should be fine on a 17x7. I think you can squeeze up to a 225/45-17 onto a 7"-wide wheel.

 

Awesome. I want as thin as possible (these will be my winter tires) but the 205/45/17 are tough stuff to find.
