Falken 215/45 16 RT615 on 6.5" wide wheel

So I was putting my autox wheels on my car this weekend and I noticed a message on my tire that reads "Do not mount on 6.5 inch wheels"

Well.... unfortunately I didn't heed this warning and have already mounted those tires on 6.5in wheels. I did some research and went on the advice of some people in the forums. I just confirmed with falken's site that the tire I'm using is only recommended for 7"-8" tires. With that said, I've run probably about 8 autoxes on this wheel/tire combo without any noticeable issues.

Is anyone an expert on tires/wheels here that can explain why my combo would be ok, or if not why I should mount different tires?

Bonus question: I am considering some V710s for next season. Will the 225/50ZR16's fit the 16x6.5 wheels? Any rubbing?

Thanks in advance.

Did the message say, "Don't mount on a 16.5" rim"? I've never seen a tire with a "Don't mount on an X.X wide rim"...

I used to run 225/50R15 Michelin Pilot Sport Cups on a 15x6.5" rim... As long as you have the right offset, it works...

Most AutoX'ers run 215/40/16 V710s on the factory 6.5" wheel. It is a little tricky to squeeze them on (and not all shops will), but as long as the seat then you are fine.

The message on the label is for wheel that are 16.5". It has nothing to do with the width. That series tire should not be mounted on a 16x6.5 because Falken only recommends a 7" to 8" width wheel. I would be careful because that tire could unseat.

From Kumho's site:

215/40R16 82W 7.0 - 8.5 22.8 8.6 on 7.5 4 30/C/A 18.2
They do not recommend a 6.5" wheel. I recall most people with 16 inch wheels run 225/50 V710s... is this incorrect?

Manufacturer recommendations are often at odds with the actual application. A 215/45 fits fine on a 6.5", and yes, people run 225s on 6.5" wheels. I wouldn't sweat it for a second, myself.
