Proper Tire Pressure 16" runflats
Proper Tire Pressure 16" runflats
My Tire warning light came on this morning , most likely do to cold weather change . I just reset it for the light to go out , Then went to gas station and checked pressure all are set at 42 psi. or close to it .
My current tire pressure set at dealer is 42 PSI . Continental 16 " runflats.
Sidewall of Tires states 51 PSI max .
Door jamb states 33 psi front , 33 psi rear .
Is 42 PSI the correct pressure , and the sticker on door jamb just a generic sticker , with no relationship to the tires on my vehicle ?

42 PSI is to high. They'll be pushing almost 50 PSI when they warm up which will give you jumpy handling and bald center tires.I set my Bridgestone RF's at 35 PSI cold and they never rise above 42.
TOO much tire pressure

Runflat tires are not like the usual coventional tires.
In a conventional tire, the weight of the vehicle is evenly dispersed across the tires foot print where it hits the ground.
Runflat tires carry the weight of the MINI on it's sidewalls. That is why we can drive on them after a blow out.....
Therefore, having too much tire pressure places stress on the sidewalls, rims and ultimately will hasten any mushrooming of your strut towers. Remember, your tires are actually part of the entire suspension system design and set up as well....
It will also make for uneven tire wear as poster above states wearing out the middle of your tire prematurely....
I would suggest up to no more than 5 lbs ( cold tire ) over what is stated on your door jam when using OEM Tires/rim set up. Esp during summer months....
