Your antenna is too long !

I know some of you want to keep all original equipment on your cars for resale value but please for gods sake.....buy a stubby antenna . Put the original in a box and get with the program. Your antenna is the size of your wheels.

Apparently size *does* matter (to some).

I don't see why everyone thinks it looks so silly.

My antenna is a stark reminder of the events leading up to the modding of my car, so it's staying.

Your antenna might be short, but your wheelgap could house a small child

Antenna type is a personal choice and the universal law of MINI youification trumps all other "opinions" or "the program."

The very first thing i did to mine was get rid of the stock antenna!

I'd love to see the "universal law of MINI youification" trump the general laws of Aesthetics.

You could you-ify your car by painting it rainbow zebra stripes on one side ,pink and green checkers on the other side, and put glitter lightning bolts on your roof. You've got every right to make that personal choice and you-ify your car in that manner, but that doesn't necessarily mean it looks good

Not to you or I, but I doubt such extremes are at stake when we are talking about the antenna.

How could I find my MINI at the far end of the parking lot where everyone parks around it for some kind of protection while I'm shopping?

Both wheels and antennas are made that size because that's how big they need to be to work best.

You wouldn't put 6" wheels on your car now, would you?

If you were strictly concerned with the function, you'd buy an even longer antenna

With that said, I've put shorter antennas on both of my MINI's and never noticed a change in reception on either one.

Where'd you get the flag?! There's a guy in my club who'd just love one.

OK, So when I had the stock "unit" and placed a topper on it, they lasted only until I took a spirited run through the twisties, when the topper would fly off due to the whipping action. I now run a much shorter "unit" thanks to Kellen @ CRAVEN who hooked me up with a custom engraved shorty when I visited them a while back Now if I use a topper it stays on.

It would be nice to put on a BMW "shark fin" that actually worked...
Not those "covers" on e-bay....

It's tricky to get under the roof liner (for re & re) without damaging it too.

Me thinks this thread has strayed OT...

Back to antennas please. Especially the nice, long, whippy ones.
