I have yet to find a highly-rated "performance-oriented" all-season in this size.

I have looked at:

Pirelli P7000
Toyo FZ4
Falken 512.

All 3 have so many poor reviews. Arrggghh. I'll need something this winter in NY and don't want all-out snows.

Any of you care to add to the list or change my mind about any of the above?

The p7000 is the only one I handle, make sure that road noise does not bother you!

Now there's honesty fer ya. Do you think that these would offer a significant amount of safety over the GoodYear run-flats in some snow, considering the Pirelli's are "performance" all-seasons?

I think that safety is in the choices and actions of the pilot.

For snow traction, I would say most performace allseason tire have similar snow and ice traction. p7000 will function with a fair amout of discression in snow, just like the OE all seasons. Motor carefully!

I'm looking for the exact same thing, to replace the run flats with something that works well in the occassional winter mush in Philly. Snow tires are just not necessary for our 3 annual snow storms and the stock run flats were very poor in last year's snow.

Three other tires listed on tirerack in this size + all-season + high performance:

Bridgestone Potenza RE92
Goodyear Eagle RS-A
Firestone Firehawk GTA 02

Anyone have recommendations among these?

I don't know...They all seem to get worse reviews than the ones I mention. Furthermore, they are more tame tires, so to speak, as they probably wouldn't have the grip the other "performance" oriented tires would have in the summer. But, I'm really no expert in the matter, so maybe anyone with experience with these could chime in...
