Ideas for November

So I put my snow tires on - that's about the extent of my ideas for November MINI happenings.
Anyone have any ideas for a club event for November?
Could be a ride, could be raking my leaves or even organizing a food bank day.
I'm open and willing to help.

So, you have 3 sets of wheels? Or do you consider the Nitto's the snow tires?

I imagine November will be over before I get to thinking about some drives.

How about a Sonic meet/eat & drive or coffee get together down the Southern way?

My weekends are pretty booked with some items to do with RMVR and installs on my MINI, but I could find the time I think when I get back from Missouri.

OK now that is a problem. It is amazing that you're in 5th gear without even having your MINI. Good work!

It has been a few years

since we have had a good, old fashioned TAILGATE PARTY. Since the Broncos are playing at home on December 7, I suggest we organize a nice party, in a parking lot, not too distant from Mile High. Then we can grill out and enjoy the fine weather. For those going to the game, you are ready. For the others, go home, get warm, watch the game.

I suggest the location be the P&R at Dry Creek and I-25, top level. Parking is free, ride to the game is cheap. Drink, but don't drive.

10 am to Noon, then head out. Nothing like a good smoke early in the AM.

Any takers?

That sounds like fun (if I'm still in town).

I've been meaning to swing up north and pick up a few drinks from the Tommy Knocker (thanks to 5280 it's the one Root Beer good enough to actually crave) Anyone want to tag along and stop for photos around Echo Lake?

Also if anyone wanted to come down south...

I've been wanting an excuse to try out the final twisty third of this (and hope it's paved)

Start at Garden of the Gods, finish up at Culver's or the Fox and Hound before everyone heads home?

EDIT: If this is just because Chuck needs something to do, there are MINIs that could benefit from your detailing skills if you want us to swing by (I'd need to see the yard before I offered a leaf raking trade Just think the more MINIs detailed the less yard work you've got)

December 7th would be great! Count me in for a dozen brauts & some adult carbonated beverages. Jonathan - remind me to bring this up at the next meeting.
Drew - Which day would you like to head over to Idaho Springs? We can bring this up on Tuesday as well. BTW, seems like I remember that Gold Camp Rd is not paved, but perhaps a Springs MINI can chime in.

I was honestly goin' to head up this weekend but wouldn't be opposed to waiting a week or two (or going up and getting more later on. Twisties so you've got to twist my arm)

I've taken other sections of Gold Camp, and its been both paved and non, heck looking out the window it might be a snow gamble, but that stretch between the back of Cheyenne and Cripple Creek looks fun.

Drew & Chuck:

Gold Camp Road is dirt. You could drive it w/ a Mini as long as there is little or no snow & no of course no mud.

Personally, I would never ever take my Mini over it. There are great paved roads to & around Cripple Creek & Victor, etc.

I was looking at taking a drive this weekend to put the new Mini through its paces. Of course, not too much due to the infamous breakin period.

I'd be willing to go to Idaho Springs provided the snow is too horrible.

You got your MINI! Can't wait to see it.
The break-in period is more of a guideline then a rule. Best way to follow that guideline however is to get out of the mileage as soon as possible.
Road trip to Idaho Springs!

I’m always up for a drive. Anytime—Anywhere. I start having withdrawals if I don’t go for a drive somewhere.

I'm actually quite surprised no one jumped on the "raking my leaves" idea.

mmmm ... pizza
I'm always ready for pizza. Which reminds me, I think Saturday I'm taking the family to Edgewater Inn.
So who wants to jump in here and organize a MEEP (MINIs Enjoy Eating Pizza) Run?

Will drive mini many of miles for pepsi & pizza.

If you plan it, they will come.

We had a crack team of planners for Yalla Yalla. Perhaps you can tap into some of their expertise.

Not around this weekend, but perhaps in a week or so. Of course the next few weekends after I get back are going to be busy.

Watch out for snow and mud.

Let me know what firms up.

Edit: Chuck, I am surprised nobody jumped on a detail for leaves swap. Heck I've seen your super detailing skills, I might have to come over and rake for a couple hours in exchange for a polish and Wow application.

I might be up for a detailing day. Needs to be sunny and + 50 deg F, so kind of hard to plan for this time of year. I do need to get my winter coat of Epic down and if I do that I might as well precede it with some Amigo and since I'm at it a couple of hours of Swirl would be in order as well to kick the whole this off.
Now as far as leaves for shine; if I wait long enough it becomes the neighbors problem - come on wind!

The road from Cripple Creek to Colorado Springs is a rough gravel road. I mtb it occasionally. I would get other opinions on driving a Mini over it.
There are sections that are even rough in a truck. Not undoable, just rough to the point I wouldn't think it would be fun.

I'd be willing to do a tech talk if anyone is interested. Just let me know what topics you may be interested in - suspension, engine performance, how to get started in motorsports, etc.

Also, as a drive suggestion - I love going up I-70, getting off at 6, then following Clear Creek Canyon down to Golden. From there, you can go up Lookout Mountain road and back down again to I-70. It is pretty quick, and there is stuff to do in between. You can hit Golden for lunch, then go to the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave.

Sound good to anyone?

Randy
