Test drove a Used MINI

The wife and I went for a testdrive of a Mini Cooper.

We had a few questions and I have been able to find the answers here on NAM by using the search button.

There is one thing I just cant seem to find. Are there not a place where you can purchase Door Plug`s for the 3 UGLY wholes in the door.

If I am not mistaken, I have seen somewhere that you can actually purchase something from Homedepot or a local hardware store.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Kirk.

There are a few options for those. I plan on buying them myself. I know that on the vendor directory of NAM, there are a few sellers. I have found some on Ebay as well.

These have UJ and checks.

I hope this helps.

Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get 5/8 and 11/16 plugs. It will cost you about a buck and a half for a package of 2 of either size. They come in black or white and can be easily inserted in the hole.

Ask one of the store people for plugs--they are in the drawers where small hardware is kept if you are a Lowes aficionado.

I agree with cigarman, I have found them also at Lowes. The plugs on ebay are called Spiffy' caps if your interested, they are selling for $10.00 and appear to be the same item as found at Lowes..

I bought the "Spiffy Caps" and then found the ones at Lowes a week later. They are the same caps. I could have saved about $8.00, but it was an "impulse" buy on E-Bay and I did not do any research. My bad...

I now ALWAYS search NAM before doing anything!

+ 1 for Lowes

... and if you want to get fancy, you could use a bottle of touch up paint to liven them up with your MINI's body color.....just a thought (I did that with my cigarette lighter and like the look)

to avoid annoyances, the first thing that MUST be done is removing the airbag stickers on the visors -- my unrelated input

Some of the links in this topic look like they are using plugs that are made for bicycle handlebars. They typically plug into each end of the handlebar and have a hole in the end, this appears to be resolved by adding some type of sticker/button that makes it unique to our mini's...

Really? The holes are bothersome?

Call me crazy ...I kinda' like mine. I'm not sure I can figure out why though ...they just sort of seem to suit the all-business character of the interior. I wouldn't like them on a Lexus, but I do on my MINI.

Go figure.

Nope. I didnt buy it, and I didnt even have the intention on buying it just yet.

The inital reason to test drive it was to see how my wife likes it. She was not sure too fancy on the idea of purchasing a Mini with having 2 kids.

I knew that once she would sit behind the wheel she would fall in love... and that is what happened!

She just said to me today that she had a dream about owning one Lastnight.

We have another appointment to testdrive another one but during the night time because my wife wants to see the difference with the Xenon and non Xenon lights.

June 2009 is when Ill be wanting to purchase one. GOD i cant wait, this winter is going to be LONG! Hehe
