Looking for Quiet Tires

I have a 2007 Cooper S. I love everything about the car except the run flats (continentals) are very noisy on the highway.

I need help.

Are there quiet Run flats? If yes, which model?

Or what would the best non run flat be if my most important goal is a quiet and smooth ride.

Thanks!

Ask Alex@tirerack.com which of the runflats is most quiet for street use.

Most are noisy due to stiffer sidewall construction.

For non runflats that are more quiet and smooth riding I'd suggest looking at
Ultra High Performance All Season tires or Grand Touring All Season tires in 215/45-17. Not many of those come in 205/45-17.

yah, as minihune commented, it's literally the stiffer tire that
doesnt absorb the noise and just passes it through into the
cabin.

if you ever decide to go non-RF, here are 2 tires that have
been very quiet:

All-season: Sumitomo HTR+
Summer: Dunlop SportMaxx, Bridgestone RE050A

I changed the original run flats for some conventional Falkan tires obtained from Tire Rack. Couldn't believe how much quieter and how much better the ride is.

I've run the Dunlop 9000 runflats, Kumho AST, Goodyear F1 All Seasons, and Nitto Neo Gens. The Nittos are virtually SILENT.... the others aren't...

I have Kumho ASX (not AST) Ultra High perfomance all seasons - quietest tire I've ever owned - just about totally silent depending on the road surface. On asphalt - dead quiet, some of the concrete roads around here have been grooved so any tire will sing on them, but it's not that load nasty roar such as I got from my Yokomama Parada's......so far I have almost 20K on them and they still look new and are as quiet as the day I put them on.

I'm also very happy with the handling, they grip really well in the dry and are terrific in the rain. I don't do a lot of snow driving with my MINI, but the few times I have they've done fine........

We just put a set of Yoko S-Drives on the BMW e46 330 convertible - nearly silent.

Has anyone had experience with the new Toyo Proxes 4 tires? I have been through 5 sets of Toyos on other vehicles and got 97K miles on one set with never a problem with any of them. Run flat tires sound like a damned expensive low milage gimmick to me. I've got a low milage MCSc nearing delivery in the next week or so and will be interested in the condition of those rinds and their possible replacement.

If you need an all season tire, I suggest the Falken 912. The tire is very comfortable and quiet.

For a summer only tire, I recommend the Falken FK452 and the Sumitomo HTRZIII. They grip nicely in wet/dry conditions and maintain low tire noise.

I've got 205.55.16 Michelin Pilot Exalto AS on my MCC. Very smooth and quiet, even with the top down I don't notice any road noise.

OK, thank you all for input and so far some good ideas sans Toyo testamonials. Michelin and General I have had experience with but Falken, I'd never heard of. Sumitomo sounds like something one might find in a sushi bar. Did a google search of Falken and found 6 outlets in my area. Googled each outlet and not one of them lists Falken in their inventory, mysteriouser and mysteriouser. "Oh well," McWatt would sing, "what the hell." I'm still keeping my options open.
