is it possible to adjust alignment, front and rear on an "08 r56? i saw an earlier that stated that the rear suspension(stock) was not adjustable.

 

On a stock R56
Front:
No camber adjustment(without cutting)
No caster adjustment
Toe is adjustable

Rear:
No caster adjustment
No toe adjustment
Camber is adjustable

 

On our 07 MCS we installed Ireland Engineering's fixed camber plates. Got 1.2 and 1.4 negative outta the front. Would have liked to get 1.5 on both sides, but I'll live with that. Going through twisty route 60 in WV a month ago, I could really tell the difference. I haven't had a chance to get to an autocross yet, but will soon. I sure plan on putting a set on my Clubman.

The front camber is adjustable on the R56. Remove the small metal pin on the 07 or plastic pin on the 08 strut towers, un-weight off the front wheels, loosen the 3 strut mounting bolts, and push the top of the strut towards the middle of the car. You won't get a lot of camber adjustment, but every little bit will help. For both street and autocross use, you want equal amounts on each side, preferably measures with the driver in the seat. You will have somewhere between -.5 and -1 degrees of camber doing this. From many years of experience, this will cause minimal tire wear and help the cornering immensely. I just did this on my new 08 last week and was very pleased with the results. The shop also adjusted the rear toe.. I like to run 1/32" total toe OUT on the front and 1/16" toe IN on the rear.
SmartRacing Products has a toe aligning tool called Smart Strings. On their website, download the PDF of the Smart Strings Owner Manual. On page 10, you will find a chart that will convert the inch measurment to an angular measurment like most shop equipment uses. The chart will convert from 10 inch to 25 inch wheel sizes. The next page has the math formula for those who don't like to interpolate.
