need some help!

I noticed about 2 days ago when starting 1st gear the car somewhat shakes or shutters. It almost seems like the engine is being choked. I doubt its my clutch because it pulls and changes just fine. It happened after i changed the plugs and did the one ball mod. I doubt its the one ball ...i think its the plugs
i put in NGK iridium IX could they be too cold and not fire hot enough and the car chokes? plz give me some advice i dont want to hurt my baby

by the way. i have a 04 MCS 6 speed...

i just pulled the NHKs thinking it was the problem. They looked very good but i still put the stock ones back on. it still does it. How do you determine the gap setting? Im going to keep the stock ones on for now. I didnt touch them so it should be fine now right?

I haven't looked but I wonder if the Bentley manual would indicate the proper gap setting? My manual is down in the MINI and I'm sitting here in bed sending messages...
I just reread your message... I have an '05 MCS and sometimes I too stutter or buck on starting - when cold. After warmup she goes! I seem to remember this being a common thing with the older MINIs... the turbo MCS I had for a loaner this week had zero hesitation.

Look under the hood. Normally on the emissions label there is a spark plug gap spec. Now, being that MCS is forced induction, I would recommend NOT using the Iridium IX. The reason being that many find the spark is not "fat" enough to withstand forced induction and can kind of blow the spark out. Stick with the Laser Platinums.

Check your tightening torque. Should be 27 nm or about... 20 foot pounds. Can you describe the problem a little more in detail?

the stocks are in and IX are out. It is torqued accurately. I don tknow how to explain it more.
After a little hard driving, when starting in 1st and if i slip the clutch at 2k it will shutter almost like its choking. And if i let the clutch off easy it will sometimes do it as i shift into 2nd gear. It kind of scares me cuz the front of the car shakes almost as if the tires are hopping.

Does yours do it all the time? Or just when it is cold? Check the tightness of
all your boost hose connections...

Otherwise see if the dealer you bought it from can scan it for free. Some will, some won't. If we have a code to go on it can be much much easier to pinpoint.

Cheers!

Have you tried to turn off the DCS and see if the problem changes?

did all that...and i found the problem.

it was the plugs. Either the gap was wrong or they were too cold. The IXs did give more power though. I put the stock ones on and slight shuttering. I then added some fuel injector cleaner and BAM problem fixed. Now its smooth as before
