Dealer swapped out my stock hood scoop for JCW scoop (plus cash)

Well, like the rest of many of us, my hood scoop is completely deformed from the heat.

I've read some of the cures (ie. wrap, M7 scoop, etc, etc) Obviously, changing out the hood scoop for another is a complete waste since it's nothing more than a band-aid, it's not really curing the problem.

When I was in the dealership getting some work done, I mentioned the deformed scoop to my SA and asked him that since BMW is going to have to replace it, how about replacing it with a JCW carbon fiber one and I'll pay the difference.

I'm surprised but they did just that. I received an email saying it would cost me 200.77 and I can get it.

Since I'm in the paint business, I'll paint it myself and hopefully won't have to worry about any warpage.

I know it's 200 bucks but it seems that almost any "cure" is at least that.

Anyway, just thought I'd mention it to ya'll in case anyone else is frustrated with their deformed scoop.

^^Mark great to hear that

$200 isn't bad at all considering a new CF hood scoop runs $275.00 from minspeed.net

Wouldn't they have to paint the stock replacement scoop? Seems like they should paint the CF one, too, unless you just want to do it.

You're right but Laser blue is a PIA to panel shoot... I'd rather screw it up myself so I have no one else to blame.

Simple really. I love the carbon fiber look but I have a laser blue with white roof and white stripes.

A big "dark" scoop in the middle of all that isn't going to be very flowing.

I'm going to set it on there first but I'm thinking it'll have to be painted.
