Question: What are the upgrades from the 05 Cooper S to the 06 Cooper S?

A car drove right in front of me while i was driving my 2005 Mini Cooper S/Chrono Pack/Sport Package/Premium Package/Xenon Silver body, Black top and Black Bonnets.
I hit this truck going 50mph and the cooper saved me; airbags deployed and it totally took the hit and i walked away with alittle scratch on my arm. I am sore but good overall.

I am now looking for a replacement and i think i want to stay with the SC and not get into a Turbo.
Just wondering what upgrades came about in the 2006 models.

Thanks guys!

Nothing I think. (JCW option done at factory only)
Late 06 models have 14mm bolts on wheels as opposed to 12mm, not exactly an upgrade.

New for 06

Silver Roof

There were some packages avail in 06 that were not offered before

In July the 12mm Lug Bolts grew to 14mm

Also, the stereo head unit changed from an Alpine model to a Siemens model in late 2006. Both stereos have the same functionality and use the same wiring harness - they just look different and the buttons are in different places.

some 06's even have the larger brakes from the JCW.

I showed my wife this photo (sorry for your loss!) and explained how the MINI is so very safe... She said with a concerned a look, "Okay, you shouldn't be showing me this..."
I said, "We're good! What a shame about the MINI though..."
Laughter ensued. lol
I T-Boned a car that pulled in front of me at an intersection (she was at fault) with my '02 Jeep Wrangler Sport... I was going about 40 through the intersection and sustained a lot more damage than your MINI at 50mph - AND my (singular) airbag did not deploy! A wonderful Chrysler product. MINI rocks. Period. Loved my Jeep... REALLY love my MINI!
