2009 MCS: get jacked!

If you ordered a 2009 MCS you might not know they were not shipped with jacks in the toolkit for this model year. Check yours. I was notified by my dealership, after I complained, that Mini USA will be giving jacks to the jackless, and I will be contacted next week.

Either they made a mistake and are correcting it, or made a cost-cutting measure and got enough complaints that they're ponying up the dough. Either way, see if your kit has a jack and contact your dealer if you were not given one.

When I picked up my 2009 MCS-a last week, there was no jack, etc. I mentioned this to the sales rep and she said they are not in the car when they arrive but are packed separately. She went and got the jack, tow hook, folding chock, tire iron, etc. I got the feeling it was a genuine oversight, not an attempt to shortchange me.

My 2009 MCSa that I picked up today had no jack. I mentioned it to the dealer and they said the 09's do not come with jacks. They did not have any to give out.

You must admit, this is somewhat bizarre. Either I got lucky and my dealer had extras lying around (?) or your dealer got shorted. Either way, I'd be very uncomfortable driving around without any way to remove a wheel by myself, even if they are run-flat tires.

I wonder how we (on this NAM site) can get a definitive answer from MINI-USA?

Might have to do with whether or not you have run-flat tires, which supposedly do not need changing out on the road.

...wasn't this already a thread though?

According to the build sheets from MINI, all of them should have jacks as standard

I do have run-flat tires and did receive the tools necessary to change the wheel myself (for my 2009 MCSa).

Maybe you should call ASK-MINI to confirm this. Personally I would fight this, not having a jack is BS, every new car should have a jack as std. equipment.

I received my MCS without the jack, and it surprised my MA. He said he would research it for me. He then called me back, and said that the 2009 does not come with the jack, since it has the run-flats. I pointed out that the Owners Manual does mention those items. My MA is going to pull a jack out of another 2008 MCS on the lot, and give them to me.

Some Do - Some Don't

My 2009 MCS was picked up 10-8 at Mini of the Woodlands (Houston). The MA said Mini was inconsistent with jacks and tools and offered to order the missing parts - no stress. So far (about 350 miles) I couldn't be more pleased with the Mini. I think I may be getting over "NAMitis"; or I'm just lucky. I'm glad I had the windows tinted so my stupid grin is less obvious to the uninformed.

In early 2007 MINI was shipping the MCS without a jack. The rationale was that with runflats you didn't need it. There were lots of complaints. By spring of 2007 my MCS came with a jack, as did all others.

I would guess that this was a mix-up at the factory.

I've sent an email to ask MINI about this. Will see what they come back with.

I was expecting this and during the inspection I asked why my car didnt have one. Apparently they are facing a lot of opposition to this and I was asked to call them next week to arrange for my tools to be sent to me

Either that or the previous owner kept the jack

My 09 has no Jack and other tool kit too. I may need to order it, I not plan to use runflat tire.
