OBX Header Issue

I just had my new OBX header installed in my 03 MCS with a new high flow cat and it works and sounds great! However, at idle with the AC on, there is so much vibration in the exhaust tips that they shake and rattle my bumper to the point where it seems like something is going to break, not to mention the awful sound.

We used the spring bolts that came with the header. What has anyone else done about this issue before I tear it back out and put in a flex joint somewhere??

Try adjusting the exhaust hangers so that your tips aren't as close to the bumper.

That may fix part of my problem but I really dont want my whole exhaust system shaking that badly....how can I make the spring bolts allow the system to flex enough? Is it even possible?

I have the same situation also. No rattling though, just a lot of vibration visible mostly at the tips.

Did you forget to add a flex coupler?

Its probly the fact that the obx doesn't have the flex joint in the middle like oem..
sooo make sure all your bolts are tight, (tighten them after gasket break in?) n just run w/o A/C cause it robs power anyway

I live in Florida. I need my AC. Do the spring bolts do anything at all?

Depends on whether you used the gasket it came w/ ie the round one? Or did u weld the cat to the header?
Mines not welded on, so it provides a little more leeway, but was a pain to fit and measure..
either way it sounds like it might be a hanger issue aswell

Welcome to OBX world! An affordable land, where troubleshooting rattles and vibrations is an everyday event.1.Make sure your bolt/spring unit isn't over compressed.2.Make sure all catback hangers are where they should be.3.Look for unexpected contact points throughout system.4.Make sure header install did'nt change your catback position.5.GET USED TO MORE VIBRO!!!7.Take solace that it was dirt cheap, and loud! 6.Save for an RMW street header-it will settle down eventually....sort of.
