OK, so during MCO's downtime I was wandering through the MINI2 site and happened across something interesting from a guy over in Taiwan. It looked fantastic so I couldn't resist doing the same to Nittany (though slightly different).

Without further ado:

I have only seen the inside of the engine of the MINI one time, on July 12th the day I did my test drive.
My MINI won't be here until Nov and even then I'm not sure I'll know exactly what the engine is supposed to look like.
I have no idea what you are showing us.
You've got to spell it out or those of us who are future MINI owners.
Sorry!

Pebbles, I didn't get it at first but I think she put some eyes on the plastic wheel covers. Thought it was her head lights but they are on the hood. Cute

Sorry, thought it would be obvious but for those without MINI's I guess it wouldn't be. Yeah, it's the eyes.

Had I done any serious modifications I would have posted in one of those forums but I figured my little eyes didn't rate a spot over there. : )

Nice eyes, needs some color and lashes for the Full effect. Maybe even cartoon like.
I thought of doing it myself or putting cartoon characters on that area but I never quite found the right stuff. Vinyl stickers would be good for there just so that it can be changed for the desired MINI mood.
Angry eyes for track days and funny happy eyes for mechanic days.
I liked it, put it relieved some of the boredom-didn't it?

Yeah, I had to do something to kill some time while the site was down. I went to a graphics shop and got some of the same material the bonnet stripes are made of.

The guy was awesome, not only did he give me some tips for installing my bonnet stripes, but he gave me the stuff for the eyes no charge! : )

There isn’t any little wheels under the bonnet. I should have said something like inner fender well, they cover the wheels, the big ones around the car.

Actually, the guy at the graphics shop gave me enough material to make another pair (at least) so if anyone's interested in a pair for their MINI PM me.

That looks great, Jerseygirl...glad you and Nittany are having fun! That should get some reactions when you pop the bonnet!!! It's amazing the stuff we come up with to do when MCO is down. I spent tons of time at the car wash doing a Dawn wash, clay bar, Klasse thing!!! It was really a lot of fun 'cause I had no need to hurry and it was a gorgeous day!

*funny story*
Last night I had my MCS in a car show. My hood was up. Some guy looks at it and says "You ain't gonna git a sticker (inspection) like that." I said "huhhh?" He said "No headlights. Why ain't there headlights in there?"
I just reached up without saying a word and lowered the hood....
So damn funny.

We've now got these in 3 styles and 4 solid colors with more variety on the way.

I saw the eyes on one of the vendors sites here and was thinking about getting a pair myself. Now that I see how cute they look I think I will order very soon. Although, I don't have my car yet.

I like the eyes. So what's your secret for keeping your engine bay so clean? Clean livin'? Elbow grease?

The oriental mind can work in strange ways. My daughter just returned from Japan, and she said it was like living in a cartoon world of lime green and fuschia. Just think, they believe that it is attracive to put "eyes" on their cars. Anthropomorphism at its worst. Thank God people here have better taste.

Or do they?

Jerseygirl... after seeing that, I feel a need to go to a Chevron station and gas up!

Are you the same Jerseygirl who is on the Trading Spaces forum?

Wow..that's a mouthful from a guy with a purple car and red seats!

Taste is in the mouth of the beholder...no?

Wow, I was surprised to see this old thread reappear today! To answer a few comments that deserve answering...

So what's your secret for keeping your engine bay so clean?
My engine bay is "clean" because I quickly wipe it down after every wash. Trust me it's not as clean as you think.

I like the way they look... PM sent.
JFS, I'm sorry to say that I no longer have the extra material to make a second set of these. That set was claimed long ago...

Jerseygirl... after seeing that, I feel a need to go to a Chevron station and gas up! Are you the same Jerseygirl who is on the Trading Spaces forum?
OK, I don't understand the first statement but, no, I'm not the person on the Trading Spaces forum.

Chevron stations advertize using little animated cars with faces.
