new 15" shoes for mini

Any experience in buying replacement 15" street tires for 07 MC?
OEM tires are Conti 175R65 15".

These are for daily driver and are wearing out at 20k miles.

Replacement Tires

I've already been through two sets of tires (run-flats) for Cassie. Since I have gone to regular tires as we have with JJo's MINI, Candy.

I believe that Baby is already running regular tires (non run-flats) so there are more tires available locally for you. I have used Tire Rack, they can deliver to you or to a participating tire dealer here in Warner Robins, or you can just shop around. There is a new Discount Tire on Watson Blvd, they are very good and they have the latest in equipment. The Raffield Tire on Watson Blvd just west of Davis Drive is also very good, talk to David and he will set you up ands can discuss the various options available. I purchased my Toyo Proxes4 tires from him and JJo has the same on her MINI.

Be careful of Kubia's, on Watson Blvd, they severely scuffed my wheels (paint chipped off) as I believe their eqipment is not set up for the painted alloy wheels.

I know this doesn't discuss 15" tires as mine and JJo's are 17", but the 15" tires are more common and should be easier for you to find what you want.

Hope this helps.

So did you get those new pair of shoes? If so, where & what brand? Any recommendations?

Tires and now deer-slayer!

After extensive shopping around, I went with Discount Auto on Watson--they have the latest equipment, cleanest shop, and best organized. I was going to order Conti ProContacts but then the sales guy sold me on upsizing. I went with Yokohama YK520 in 185x65 R15, upsizing from 175x65 R15. I was in & out in less than 45 minutes! My speedo appears off a mile or two but no biggy. I spent a bit less money and got a mileage warranty too. After about 1000 miles, they seem to work well for daily use tires.

Just a note...Baby went deer hunting Sunday night without a license and got tagged going down I-16 at 73 mph. She lost left front fender, quarter panel, hood, and driver's door as well as a bunch of plastic parts in that general vicinty. Air bag did not deploy. No injuries to me or passenger. Managed to drive her 100 miles home and just got the estimate from my insurance adjuster-- $5200! Zowiiiie! Precision Collosion (in Byron ??) is recommended by a fellow MINI owner but I'm leaning toward going to Global Imports in Atlanta (Baby's selling dealer.) Any experience on colloision repairs?

Sorry to hear about the accident but glad everyone is ok.

Precision Collision Center is the one I was going to recommend to you. Here's what I got from a friend with the 'Vette club:

They did the work when they promised, and got it done when they promised. It’s been over a year now, and there haven’t been any issues with paint fading, mismatch, or any other complaint.

Call them at 956-0195; they’re located on Hwy 49 in Byron, half-way between the interstate exit and the town. Their location is a bit strange as their rather large shop is not directly on highway frontage, but sort of on an alley directly BEHIND a fast food place …I think the Dairy Queen.

They’ve done EXCELLENT work for everybody I know that has used them, especially with damage alignment issues. And on their paint, they DON’T do “Get your car painted by Earl Sheib for forty-nine dollars!” work. * The old rule of “You Get What You Pay For” applies.
I want to say Jamie had his bonnet stripes painted on by this shop but I'm not 100% sure. I'll see if I can find that out for you.

Interesting about Precision Collosion. I had planned on using Global Imports in Atlanta but that's a long ways away. I'll go on to Precision and check them out. Byron's a lot closer!

Whichever one you choose, I'd like to see the before & after pictures to show others the quality of work you received from either shops.

We're just down the road if you need anything!

Global

Global will farm your car out to a paint and body. They sent mine to one in Atlanta to have my hood adjusted...it doesn't rub and they did a good job touching up the rub spot but my hood now sits higher on one side.

I would stick with precision I have heard great things and you can check on there work. At Global you have no idea who is doing it.

Jamie did get his stripes (bonnet, top, & boot) painted on from there. They had to actually fix damage done by another shop that started that project for him. Overall he was satisfied with them.

Oh Deer!

Sorry to hear of Baby's woes with Bambi, please keep us posted on what you decide. It must be painful to see your pride and joy with a big "owie!" on her; I know she will be back to new in no time.

Cheers-

Sorry to hear about your run in with a deer. I know several people in the car show world that swear by Precision Collision in Byron. My wife hit a deer with her Company P/U a couple years ago. It not only caused 3K in damage it scared the heck out of her. Good lucik on getting "Baby" back on the road and good as new.

Thanks for all your comments. They helped me decide--I dropped Baby off at Precision Collision Monday Nov 3. I'm going to start another thread on the collision repair experience.
