Slick or QD Question from new OCDer
Slick or QD Question from new OCDer
Be kind... I'm new to all of this worrying about cleanliness
and have never used a QD.
Got up this AM and the barn cat had trooped across the hood, up the windshield and sunroof and left muddy pawprints along the way on my freshly washed week old Clubman.
I've got the big package from DP, but haven't yet done the clay, Epic etc since I'm waiting until after the clearbra is done this week.
Do I really get out there with the Slick and just spray and wipe with the microfiber? Won't all of the dirt and grit scratch the paint? Do you dedicate a MF to the Slick cause so that you aren't washing it every day and then only wash it occasionally?

If there is a lot of dirt then it very well may scratch. If it just a little then it probably won't be a problem. I'd start with the back end (assuming it is the least muddy) and try it gently. The safest thing would be another re-wash but I realize that you might not have time. Post pics and maybe some of the pros on here will have a better idea.
Normally she would just leave dusty prints, but I with all of the hurricane mess down here, the first ten prints were pretty bad.
I've got plenty of MF. The ones in the package and also a monster pack from Sam's/Costco for interior and dirtier jobs.

Here would be my recommendations based on the amount of time you have:
1. Wash (most time and safest)
2. Rinse of with water hose, pat dry, use slick (moderate time)
3. just use slick - really soaking each paw print with it and letting is soak in for a minuet before gently wiping off. (quickest but mostly likely to mar - but again try a test spot on the roof)
Good luck

I agree with cadfael_tex. If you choose #3 I'd soak the spot with Slick then ever so gently wipe with a folded MF cloth (using almost no more pressure than the weight of the cloth itself). Soak the spot again, turn or fold the cloth and wipe again. Once all the kitty prints are done then mist the whole area with Slick and wipe down a final time with a clean MF cloth. You should be good to go. The trick here is to never put any real pressure on the cloth as long as there is any chance of even 1 grit particle being present.
