A piece of cake-- no jack just reached underneath to undo the plug. The filter took 3-4 times to put on but i only spilled a couple of tablespoons (a first)
Mobil 1 was the choice of fluid this time

did it tonight at 2037 miles. Pretty easy, no spill at all. No ramps. had to pull the pan with the oil behind the wheel - did not fit under the spoiler. Mobil 1 was the choice. No problem at all with the new filter :smile

I believe you need a 36mm socket to get the oil filter canister off.

Must be the weekend for oil changes. I did mine on Sunday (at 4,700 miles). I ordered the 4 filters off E-bay (my dealer is 90 miles away). Bought the socket at Home Depot-had a gift card- and the Rhino ramps at PepBoys. The ramps made the job quick Had a little trouble getting the filter canister back on, but I kept at it, wasn't as nearly as hard as i expected. I used Catrol as MINI reccomends.
