At the dealer today for my 10K oil change (12,440 actual miles after the 10K countdown), cabin air filter change, DSC/RF lights on 3x, squeaky sunroof during retraction and software upgrade.

I was able to watch and talk to the MINI mechanic, nice guy during the oil change (so I can do it myself - no sweat). The DSC/RF lights had a diagnostic error with the LEW (steering - angle sensor) that was fixed via a software change, no hardware. The squeak required a couple of sprays of Wurth HHS 2000 lubricant (highly recommended).

The software upgrade was as follows:

Before
- Basic control module p/n 7520019
- Programmed control module p/n 7525784
- Programming date: 1-10-03 (DOB)

After
- Basic control module p/n 7527610
- Programmed control module p/n 7530664
- Programming date: 9-6-03

The MINI wireless OBD2 connection to the MINI PC with software diagnostics and software upgrades was quick the tool.

Well, after waiting for this upgrade to the "664" from the "784" in MINI talk, I was told of another upgrade coming soon. What?

Okay, here's the ?s:

1) Do I wait for the ECU flash from Randy?

2) Does anybody know the enhancements (fixes) from this next software upgrade?

P.S. After 12,440 miles, I could only find a squeaky sunroof to declare under warranty. How about that for you future MINI owners on the edge of worry?

Tell us about the cabin air filter change. I wasn't aware that this was part of the scheduled maintainence.

The cabin air filter (cabin is my terminology) filters inbound air into the cabin. It's located on the passenger's side (front) under the dash. The filter looks like an engine air filter, but ~5" by 18" and 2" thick. The removed was gray in color and saw a little bit of sunlight coming thru. The new filter is a white micro material with a black rubber seal around one side of the perimeter. Apparently, this change out of air filters is normal during our oil change service cycles.

Took lots of pics during the servicing, but not of the filter.
