I have a silly question.

Lets say I purchased the bluetooth prep w/usb connection for my mini cooper. And I buy the new Iphone3G, do I use the bluetooth connection to use the phone AND play music at the same time. OR do i use the ipod connection to play music and talk. I'm not sure if that makes sense.

Thanks in advance for the info. I'm not really a very technical person.

Also, it was me that started the thread "to S or not to S" and I did decide on changing the order to an S. And everyone was right, at the end it was all up to me. I figured that its going to be the very first car that I buy and work for, and I dont want to have the "what if's" later on.

I do want to thank everyone for their opinions. AND i also added anthracite headliner and piano black interior. MAN, this car is getting expensive. I noticed that the longer I wait the more expensive the car gets!!

My future car: 2009 MCSa, PW/PW with aero kit, white turn light, rear fog light, auto wiper/headlamps, cloth checkered seats, anthracite headliner, cream color line, piano black interior surface, MF steering wheel, alarm system and bluetooth prep w/USB.

Also, I was thinking of adding silver bonnet stripes. yes or no???

I have the first gen iPhone but it should be the same thing. Bluetooth will only work with the phone part of the iPhone, but you can play your songs if you connect your iPhone to the ipod dock connector, plus it will charge your phone for you. You can also use both at the same time from what I can remember.

So if I connect my phone to the iPod connector, can I use it to talk and can I use the MF to also make calls?

If you connect it you use the dock connector to play music and you can still use the bluetooth to talk.

I see, so all I have to do is connect to the dock AND set up the bluetooth connection. Is that right??

Yup, my bluetooth goes out once in a while maybe two or three times in the 6 months that I have had it, but that maybe an iPhone thing, but it's easy enough to resync the phone

One of the advantages with Bluetooth Technology is its ability to do five or six or more operations at the same time.

I don't cellphone enough to use its Bluetooth and have never seen an ipod, but my Laptops network on BT as well as two Printers, one GPS, WxWorx XM Wx Satellite Receiver and an IntelliMouse.

More the better for me, if I am away from WxWorx signal, my IntelliMouse goes to sleep, but as long as BT is kept active, no problems. Should get an ipod just to keep my BT Mouse awake

SuperGreg: Roof Antenna

Is the roof antenna in your photos the stock MCS antenna, or is that part of an option package?

Nice find, Greg. I just figured your antenna was unique to cars with satellite radio.

I'd put some lock-tite on the threads of that puppy though; apparently it just screws on/off and it might get stolen!

Thanks for the link, btw. Add it to my Christmas list.
