B&M Shortshift installation!! HELP!!

Hey guys,

I bought the B&M shortshift kit,
and i want to install it myself, basicly thats not a problem, seem pretty easy.

My question is how i find the lower shift base.

When i raise my car i cant find it,
my question is, if i have to remove the protection plate there is mounted on to the car between the exhaust pipe and the car itself?

seems the instruction is lacking that part?.
It only tells me to remove the exhaust bolts to move the exhaust, to gain more space.

please help.. :D

Yup the exhaust sheild has to get dropped. Once the exhaust is outta the way, just find the little bolts that hold it in place. From there you'll see a white rectangular box. Unclip the bottom panel and there is what ya need. BTW the connector that is attached to the shifter is a royal PITA to take off (It was for me at least) so it may take some force to remove. Other than that, you MAY have to modify your exhaust shield if the new SS sits low. I have the Helix unit and had to modify the shield to make it work properly. BTW make sure the Cooper is in neutral before you take the linkage connector off the base of the shift lever....
