Oof...

...looks like a broken piston and connecting rod in the Mini.

Klaus-Peter pulled the head and gave my wife a call... So I guess the proceeds from this deployment will go to a rebuild/new motor vs. a down payment on a Porsche.

OkiJack: If you see this, can you please swing by and take pics?

...She'll be rebuilt, maybe not $6M but she'll be stronger than before. I don't have any details yet so I'm just going off my wife's interpretation of the message left on the phone.

Chow's good here and I'm running/biking/working out every day so despite the crappy talcum powder-fine dust getting into everything and every orifice this is kind of a health trip for me Since I'm not really spending any $$ it's kind of a health trip for my wallet too. Good thhing, eh?

This is gonna get expensive w/the $ to Euro rate. Maybe I'll just keep the Mini forever and buy a motorcycle when I get back... Dunno yet. At least I have a few months to ponder the issue.

EDIT: Just rolled over 30K miles; not a high mileage car. May have some warranty recourse since I've only had the car 18 months or so but I doubt it w/the pulley mods.

Come on now... clearly less than 1/2 of those miles were spent at redline!

Don't take it the wrong way. That is just a FINE example of that tough Army love!! You know, if we don't get yelled at, kicked or otherwise abused during any (or every!) given day, we feel like we're not loved anymore!!

Cheers!!

Of course I remember meeting y'all at Deal's Gap! I get back in November and hope to get a couple runs in at the Nurburgring w/the new motor before the wx gets too bad.

Look up my buddy in Stuttgart (FWD-MX5 on this board)... I'll PM you contact info.

Hey, you're getting a new motor out of the deal, on a car you bought to go with your year pass to the Nürburgring. I think we're all free to bust your chops!
