JCW or MCS auto?

What to do? I have an option of getting the jcw(hes saying its 240 hp but i doubt it and its not the whole package its a partial package no moonroof but its manual 2009) or an mcs loaded but auto. I love driving stick the jcw is 29gs the mcs is 27gs. Im trading in a 2006 mustang gt convert which bluebooks for 25gs im guessing they will give me 21 and i owe 19 left. I have 3 years payments left so my monthly payments on either car will be lower, but the loan will probably be for about 24 or 25. Should I do it or should I just keep the stang?

Well, you can't just "keep the stang." That's not really an option on this forum.

Either Cooper is a fine choice. And doesn't the auto MCS have the paddle shifters (I don't know if the JCW does)?

Go with the JCW.The auto MCS does have the paddle shifters. The JCW engine internals are more beefed up than the MCS.No auto for the '09 JCW.

Go with the JCW, although the price of $29k seems low. Must not have any additional options.

The JCW specs are 208hp, and 29K is the BASE model. The MCS is 172hp, and as you've said you can probably load it up with a few extras. There are a number of things the JCW comes with stock, but I really say it depends on what you plan to use it for. Particularly since you mentioned the auto, I'm just wondering why you are looking at the automatic in the MCS? That may help give a little better insight as to which is better for your position.

im not but these are the 2 cars they have in stock. The mcs is loaded with most options, the jcw has only the cold weather i believe. The mcs is auto though while the jcw is stick. If the mcs was stick i would have bought it already

Just order the car you want, don't settle for what's in stock.

The MCS comes with paddle shifters so you can still treat it as a manual. Plus, like you said, it's loaded. I think for virtually the same price, I'd pick the loaded MCS over the bare bones JCW (definitely if you do get the paddle shifters with the MCS).

I would say go with the JCW and you will be much happier in the long run

Now regarding your 2006 Mustang GT Convertible I will warn you that the market is extremely soft right now for V8's and what the book value says and what they give you will be a lot lower.

Best of luck to you and keep us posted on which one you end up deciding on buying.

the website says the 2100 dollar jcw package only bumps up the power to 184 i think. Is this true b/c i thought the jcw was 208 hp?

if you're thinking of getting a NAV then get it. If you decide you want it later, you can't add it in. The JCW stage 1 kit can be added later if you want and have the $$ to spend (currently only offered on the manual 6spd though)

The JCW factory is a stage 2, iirc, which explains the hp differences between it and the stage 1 kit. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I think the stage one kit (dealer installed $2100+ labor)does come in automatic with 189HP. I pick up my car tomorrow. I had the JCW suspension kit added. I'm excited!

One is a dealer installed upgrade, whereas the JCW vehicle is produced at the factory with an upgraded powerplant, and a new speedo that goes up to 160 instead of 150.

It really sounds like you'd enjoy a JCW to your specs. I'd say go that route. The time really does fly, plus you'll have time to consider trade-in versus an outright sale to someone else. Good luck with your choice and keep us posted!

It's about what is going to make you happy. You are going to have to pay for the vehicle either way you go. In the long run by going with one are you going to say, "man, if I could have waited I would be much happier". My experience with buying anything on the "I want it now" is a route to a purchase not thought out.
I've known a lot of people that bought a car because they had the itch, later unhappy and wishing they would have waited.

Remember, dealers will say pretty much anything to move product. Sounds like this person doesn't have their specs correct and I would consult the window sticker. I would trust a window sticker before I trust a salesman. He/she may be getting pressure to move the vehicle.

Sleep on it. We are talking about $30K. You can probably get more money for your Mustang by selling it on your own. You might think about ordering one, then spend the 3 months selling your Mustang privately. You could sell it and this would give you more money to put down on the Mini.

An auto is a slush box no matter how you cut it.....unless its a high end car the paddle shifters do not shift fast....

It's a MINI. Who cares about straight line speeds when its the apex speeds that really count and are the true thrill. Bend the rules, rule the bends -- that's the MINI way.
