Advice needed please re: Order f-up.
So my car just got loaded onto the ship this morning so it is obviously built and ready to go. Looking over my build sheet for the billionth time my heart sank (blue-lights-in-mirror-style) when I noticed there was no mention of Piano Black interior trim on the sheet. I stopped by and talked to my MA who also had a copy of my original specs that I printed off the miniusa configurator that did show piano black on my option list. So, they go back and forth talking about it and realize that I will end up with the checkered silver interior since no other color was specified, and that there is no way to change it now since it has been built.
So my question is this: what to do?
It is obvious to everyone that I wanted piano black, but it just got left off when they built it in their system. When I was adamant that I wanted piano black he said that he could order the parts but he did not know how much they would cost or how much labor would be involved. To be clear, I immediately pointed to my original sheet and said "This is the car I want and the price I want." To which he replied "Don't you think it is just as much your fault as it is ours?"
This really threw me off and was the first time I have ever felt upset at the mini dealership. In theory it is partially my fault because we did look over the order before it was submitted to Oxford. However, I do not think that I can really share in the blame since I was not the individual who built the order.
Anyway, after some almost heated discussion, my MA says that he will make sure I get piano black trim in the car. I am just afraid when it comes time to take delivery, the story may change. I asked if this was something they could change out at the VDC and he said it was not possible. I just don't want to pay a dime for something that was a no-charge option (with leather seats).
Advice?
Edit: My MA just called and asked if we can just build a new car so we get it right from the factory. This is really what I suggested from the beginning so I am fine with it. Guess I will review that sheet a bazzilion+1 times tonight.

Wow - I feel really bad for you; I know how disappointing this can be when you wait so long for exactly the car you want, and now it looks like you might not get that car.
However, with that said, my 2 cents is this: the dealer made a mistake, but they then gave you the build sheet to verify and you missed it. At this point, there is only so much they can do. If you REALLY want Piano Black, and you don't want the hassle of trying to have it installed at the dealer, you could always place a new order for a new car. Yes, you'd have to wait, and that would suck, but there just aren't many other options.
You could also just take the car that comes - I bet it will be brilliant!
The final option is to let your MA try to get it sorted for you. My own worry is that I wouldn't want the folks at the dealership taking apart the interior of my car - even if they weren't going to charge.
Again, sorry to hear of the mix-up, but now that it's happened I think your best bet is to decide what you want to do NOW, since there's no way to go back in time and fix the mistake.

Sorry to hear about this! I am in a similar situation...@ least I think?
I ordered bluetooth/ipod connnection but it never showed up on the spec sheet in my Mini Lounge page under my ordered options. I immediately called my dealership and they assured me that it was ordered. It has yet to show up on the MiniLounge website as an ordered option for my car though every other option I ordered is there.
I will not accept the car without it if it indeed shows up minus this option and will demand it be installed prior to delivery.
Good luck to you!

re: bluetooth/ipod option not showing up on the spec sheet in MINI OL...
I had the same thing happen. It is not on the spec sheet even though it is on the order sheet the MA gave me when he placed the order. I emailed the MA and the MA assured me it was one of the options listed on my order. I think maybe it is a dealer installed item??? Regardless, I have the assurance in email/written form just to be on the safe side.

Yes, I agree that I really did not want the dealership taking all my trim out to install the piano black. I also agree 100% that I did look over the build sheet before approving it...and so did two mini employees. All three of us missed it.
All I really wanted was to just hit the reset button and build a new car. It seemed like the best solution because the dealership can surely sell my "mistake" car (since they are selling everything these days) and they would not be out anything on the deal either. This is in fact what has happened, it only took my MA about two hours to figure out this was the best solution.

Now that I have given up my original car officially, if anyone is looking for a quick fix, this car will be dropped in Charleston on 8/6 and will probably be at my dealership within a few days (it is 15 miles from the Greer VDC).

Interesting.
When I ordered mine, the Wife and I wanted the Brushed Alloy Interior...
Once the car was placed in the Mini Online system, we reviewed the order and found the Interior was missing. We emailed and called our MA, and he said there was an error on their computer and he fixed it for us.
Sounds to me like there is a problem with inputing orders that have colorline and trim...

Edit: I see you already took care of it. I took awhile to write this message and only saw your first message. Anyway, FYI:
I looked up prices for switching to English Oak awhile back. It isn't cheap. You can get part numbers from RealOEM.com and with the number, prices from Pelican Parts.
IIRC, the parts would come to something like $800 for the dash and doors. Add a couple hours labor, and you are around the $1,000 mark. The dealer's cost is going to be somewhat less, and they may be able to use the parts they remove because they will be new.
Oh, and I wouldn't have worried about the dealer swapping parts. The dash parts just snap in and the doors shouldn't be a big deal either.

Well, my MA said he would actually be more comfortable by ordering a new car also instead of having his service guys change out trim parts before the car ever changes hands. I did actually look up the parts a few hours ago just as you recommend and the price was a little higher than I expected. I figure with the parts and labor the dealership would be out roughly a grand if they solved this problem for me, and I understand they would prefer to not take on that cost.
wow I am sure the dealer is happy to order you a new MINI. to replaced the interior trim correctly you also need to replace the door panels and get 90 clips just for the front door rings and the rear ring still a proyect. the door trim comes factory pressed in so the dremmel tool has to work overtime. takes about 5 hours to replace everything at a dealer cost of about 900 for the door trim + the 2 pieces for the dash the clips and all set and done is a $1500 mistake. not bad at 250 from the factory.
Uhh... just talk to Lyle at http://www.lylesvinylstyles.net/
He'll give you a wrapped dash for $100. You'd just have to install it yourself and ship your old one back to him. With that option you can ever specify a color other than black (or satin black, which would look sick).
I dunno about the doors though, that'd be a bit tougher. But either way the dealer should knock off quite a bit of the price since they effed it up.

Just make sure and leave off the Sirius lifetime radio this time (in view of recent merger and changes in their receivers/service forthcoming). I wouldn't wanna get stuck with a dinasaur radio/subscription when there's something better coming out soon.
And this thread just scared the crap out of me and I checked my order for the billionth time. Whew.
