Drivetrain Alta Intake/Crankcase Tube Question
Alta Intake/Crankcase Tube Question
Hey guys,
I had a quick question regarding what a I believe is the crankcase tube in relation to my intake. I've got a 05' Manual MCS and I've had the JCW intake on for some time. I recently purchased just the Alta filter and box from a member of the board. I've gathered together the rest of the hardware needed using the ALTA install instructions as a reference. I don't have the ALTA silicone tube however, I'm using the OEM inlet hose. My question is, that little hose that comes from behind the intercooler and goes into the airbox (which I'm assuming is the crankcase tube), where does that go on the ALTA V2 box? The instructions seem to suggest the spigot on ALTA's own inlet hose, but I've been told you can run the box without the silicone hose and use the OEM one. Thanks very much,
Jazz

I found ALTA's instructions also confusing regarding this part. So I ignored ALTA's tube and left the OEM tube, The OEM tube is pre-bent and seems to fit better than ALTA's. I put the silicon hose on and attached that OEM tube to it(it seems that that is the only place it can go.
I just ignored the blue(in my case) hose that came with it. It is sitting in the box with OEM intake. It looked like from ALTA's instructions, that it should replace that hose. I however found it not worth the effort. When my wife gets backs with the car this weekend I can take pics if you want.
If you leave the stock tube running between the intake and throttlebody, the crankcase vent will just stay connected to it. If you replace the hose with an aftermarket one (Alta, Samco), the new hose will have a spot to connect the vent tube in the same location as the stock hose. You may need to get a barbed adapter to attach the vent line to the nub on the intake but that's about it.
