Configure now, order later - go figure!

Even though you can configure a 2009 Cooper/Coopers S online now, one MA told me that you cannot order one until Sept, another MA said Oct/Nov and yet another MA told me Dec/Jan. Has any one heard anything more definitive from their MA/other about when one can order a 2009?

If I recall correctly, my MA would've let me order one but I wouldn't have my hands on it until December because they had such a long waiting list. So, I'd think it varies dealer to dealer.

I was given the option last night of ordering either a 2008 or a 2009. I opted for the 2008 since it would be here in August vs. October for the '09.

It doesn't make sense to me that in Chesapeake, VA one can order a 2009 today, but in South Florida one must wait several months to order.

It all depends on the number or production slots that each dealer has available. In Richmond, VA, you can't order anything but '09s because they are clean out of 08 slots. The demand just varies from location to location. The 09s don't go into production until September though so the earliest you can expect an 09 is sometime in October.

Math4scher, I am in South Florida and I just ordered my 2008 yesterday. I could have ordered a 2009, but I would have had to wait till the end of Oct./Nov delivery. (really doubtful it would make it by Oct.)

I suspect there is a pecking order for dealers. Those at the top have more felxibility in getting what they want because they are high volume dealers.

I was told the same thing, and that the week before the factory is shut down.

The most unexpected thing just happened. My MA just called and left a message that today was the first day to put a 2009 order in. Car would start production first of Sept and be ready middle of Oct - thanks to all who responded!

the factory slows way down for annual mtce retooling and some limited model production (JCW) the three weeks *before* week 36. august is annual vacation time in merry olde Oxford. on sept 1 2009 m.y. production begins in earnest. I was also told my S would go into production on week 36 and be delivered by mid-oct. at the latest.
