Hi everyone...I need some help.I just got the promini boost/oil press gages.I know I can call promini tech support but may be some can give me a clue now...The promini oil press gage is connected to the oil press sending unit, which is very clear to me,but what I want to know is the following....I ordered the aux gages from the mini dealer and I'm not sure if the oil gage is connected to the same sending unit, and if it is, I guess it will be a waste of $ to have the dealer's gages installed,($425),since I will have to unplug it to connect the promini gage to it. I called the Mini dealer but they could not give me a stright answer....someone has an idea? Thank you for your help!

What gauges do the factory aux kit use? Oil Pressure or Oil Temp? If it is oil pressure I wouldn't get them - buy just the bracket and put any two other gauges you want in there instead of the ones they have. No use having 2 of the same gauge. Now if it is Oil temp you can't use the same sending unit or tap it at the same point as you have to measure these differently. Oil temp needs to be measured from an area where the is a pool or a constant flow. For example you could use a replacement oil temp drain plug for the oil temp gauge or you could tap it somewhere right before the oil filter canister as this will be in an area of constant flow. Oil Pressure is measured based off of a spring loaded contact sending unit and this is does not have a flow of oil running through it - but pushing on it so you could not get an accurate temp reading from this spot.

If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to call us - we are always more then willing to help out.

Does BMP sell that gauge panel for a car with Navigation? Also is there anyway to order an oil temperature guage instead of pressure?

I bought the same gauge cluster and love it I have had it installed now for about a month. I am also having the JCW upgrade being done now, so after that's done it will be interesting to read the differences. However, the instructions supplied with the ProMini kit are difficult to follow and their tech support left a bit to be desired. So I installed everything but stopped at hooking everything in, drove it over to my Mini dealer and let them finish the install. Glad I did it that way, it works great and looks like it was designed originally with the rest of the car's interior. Why Mini didn't originally include this type of option is beyond my understanding.

I ended up making my own "kit" using digital gauges from Summit Racing:
