I recently had the NRP exhaust sustem (from MiniMania) installed on my '03 MCS. It is the complete system including the header. I now have a lot of vibration during agressive driving. I have tried to pinpoint the cause, but cannot. Could it be just the resonance from the new exhaust vibrating the heat shielding? Is there a way to eliminate the problem. I may want to return to the stock exhaust (just the cat-back portion) to remove this annoying vibration.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Is the system very close to the others parts of the car such as the bumper? The battery tray? The heat shields? My QS system was close to the bumper when I initially installed it but then I adjusted it and there is no problem. The problem wasn't constant though, it was only once in a while when the exhaust moves since it's simply hanging on something. Other than that, the system itself was vibrating for the first 2 days (just visually) and a friend of mine told me that's because it's getting broken in. I think he was correct because by now there are zero signs of that occuring no matter how hot or cool the exhaust is. In any case, your exhaust seems like it just needs adjustment to make sure it's fitting at the right spots.

Your heat shields could use some "persuasion" from a BFH:

Pull the exhaust, then look for marks where it has rubbed against the heat shielding. Then do some persuasion.

I have already used the swing press in various locations. That is why I asked the question. I guess I should have been clearer.

The vibrations seems to be present when under acceleration and is mor pronounced when making turns. I can move the exhaust by hand almost an inch (in the back) before it hits anything. When cruising down the road under constant load, there is no vibration.

my nrp's front mounting hanger sits pretty close to the shield on the passenger side. i get some bumping (but not really vibration) on occasion, so i took one of the unused rear rubber mounts and slipped it over the front hanger (between the pipe & the front rubber mount) to limit the system's side-to-side movement. seems to have helped. i seldom hear it now. if it gets worse, i'll just trim an inch or so off the hanger. best of luck - bodinski.

Had the same problem with vibration after I installed the NRP. Traced it down to the the front plate that has the exhaust's hanger rods inserted into the dampeners.

The problem is contact of the NRP welded hanger rod with the raised, vertical lip of the punched-out square opening of the rectangular plate. Just cut diagonals in the corners of the and squeezed flat the lips.

Of course, it was easy as I took it to a local muffler shop who put it on a rack (the rack raised all 4 wheels to load the MCS as if on the ground) so we could easily eye-ball rub spots. Charged me $10 - chump change to solve the issue.
