Sunroof or Leather?

I've seen dozens of "sunroof or no sunroof" and "leather vs leatherette vs cloth" threads. However, I'm wondering:

If you had to pick between the sunroof or punch carbon black leather, which would you choose?

Leather deffinately. The thing with the sunroof is it doesnt have a shade that completely blocks out the sun, its just this mesh thingy. I would go with the leather deffinatly but sit in a mini that has the sunroof, and then sit in a mini that has the leather.

Sunroof & leatherette. Openness plus fresh air +++

Leather is great, but leatherette wears better & stays better looking, longer.

Just my opinion, and after all, I'm the worlds leading foremost authority on my opinion!!!

I would (and did) go with leather.

Sunroof gets hot, adds unnecessary weight at the very top of your car, and can end up being noisy over the years.

Leather smells good, feels good, and looks really cool.

You'll have to decide for yourself, but I would choose the sunroof, definitely! As others have said, you can tint it or put an opaque graphic on it to keep all the sun out if you want it out.

My leatherette is still taught after 5 years unike leather which "sags" after some time.

We just placed an order for our new MCS and went with leather but not a sunroof. When we test drove the car, we noticed the sunroof only had a mesh shade and not a solid shade. If it had the solid shade, we probably would have included a sunroof too...

My sunroof's solid shade is a piece of cardboard trimmed to fit. I haven't used my sunroof in any means for sevral years. I wish it would go away.

Leather is very nice, as long as you condition it weekly, like what I've been doing. Sometimes it is every few weeks, but never more than 3. It still looks and feels like new, 5.75 years later.

I have both, but I could live without the sunroof...I was just thinking, down the line if I ever sold the MINI, a sunroof would be a good selling point.

Love the sunroof.
I have mine open almost all of the time. Love the light and vent.

Leather is fine but not needed.

SUNROOF!

Helps resale hugely. Leather does not. The pleather is very nice. I speak from experience and regret. R56 sunroof is awesome.

Sunroof or Leather?

If you live in a warm climate area you can automatically unlock the doors, open the windows and tilt the sunroof open while holding down the unlock button on the key fob before getting inside to let the heat out.The sunroof option is very nice to have at first until you realize the standard sunroof shades are a joke and fairly useless.More weight with the sunroof. Can't always be used due to rain.Eventually rattles develop.

If just a choice between the 2 go with the punch carbon black leather plus you get an adjustable lumbar on the seats.

If I had ordered my '08 MCSa instead of buying off the dealer lot I would not have gotten the sunroof and selected cloth/leather or all leather seats.

Personally I dislike the MINI snrf, but it's worth pointing out that you can swap out the seats for leather later if you have to, but it's tough to find a used snrf.

Wisdom. Well, you can cut holes in the roof, but results are seldom good.

sunroof, after sitting in my first sunroof car (my MINI) i felt claustrophobic in all other cars without a sunroof, even a big rav4... plus a sun roof would give off the feeling of having more space. natural sunlight is proven to make a person happier.

I love the sunroof, but Minihune (who frequents the wheel and tire forum) argued a few years ago against too much sun exposure with the sunroof (he being a skin doctor of some sort).

+1 for sunroof. I love the openness.

After a couple of years most leather seats look terrible (cracked/stained/dirty). Plus they are HOT in the summer!
