Front license plate question for you all.....

Any other Chicago/Illinois drivers not have a front plate on their Mini?

Wrigley is almost 3 months old (with about 2,500 miles) and I keep "fogetting" to put it on.....

Eh, who am I trying to kid? Its just too painful to to imagine a plate on the front of her.

Should I just keep driving and hope I don't get a ticket? Anyone get busted for it?

I don't have a front plate on mine. When I get pulled over -hense, happened more than once already - I tell them I was in a recent car accident and on my way to the dealer within the week to have the plate installed. [I carry the plate and bracket in the trunk of the car.] -- The car looks so much better without a front plate!!

Here's a link to the no-holes license plate bracket. (This is assuming that your objection to the front plate is drilling into the bumper to mount it.)

Don't drive through Stone Park (Mannheim, North Ave, and Lake St) then... Within a month of getting my MCS, I got a no plate ticket from one of their patrols. $75 fine... My plate went on the next day, since I work in the area and can't avoid driving through there.

Just under a month and no ticket yet.

I think that most towns will bust you for the missing plate if they're already writing you up for something else..... Just a guess, though.

I don't have my mini yet and I don't have dibs yet on my personalized plates but....

I'm so tickled with the name I've come up with that I won't mind having a front plate.

For fear of jinxing it, I won't say any more.

That happened to my mom with her new Mustang. Had it 2 years before a cop said anything to her. He pulled her over for speeding and asked her "where her front plate was". She replied, "at home". He then said, "did it fall off?" She said, "yes". and the cop smiled and told her to put it on when she got home. No ticket for the plate (but a ticket for speeding)

Thanks for the link!

I have issues with both the holes and how it looks. Actually, more on how it looks.

If it helps, I don't think you can see the front license plate when you're driving.

I know what you mean, Speedy. Wheaton is the same way. Five squad cars for a fender bender! Gives 'em something to do.

I guess that we should be grateful, though. We could be living in crime-ridden town where the plate would be missing because it was stolen, vs. us choosing not to display them!

Maybe I'll drive along the Riverwalk with no front plate and see what happens...

I got pulled over in Eureka, ILL for no front plate years ago... but I still remember it as I had ordered a replacement that same day and had all the receipts to prove it...

Also if you don't have a front plate - DON'T BACK INTO A SPOT AT O'HARE.... you will get a ticket... not that I know or anything...

You don't even have to "back in" at O'hare and they'll still get you.... don't ask me how I know.

I bought this no-holes plate holder the other day, but I'm not sure if I'm going to put it on. I'm so torn....

http://www.minspeed.net/R56LPH.htm

The Clubman looks great without it, and the no-holes holder seems fragile (easy to bend the corners of the plate is someone walks by). I don't have experience with that but it just seems that way.

The dealer warned that they don't do well in car washes (not sure why), but I typically hand wash, so who knows?

I did notice that my front bumper has the pre-hole dimples (in case I decide to drill).

Decisions, decisions.... I'll probably just choose to stay indecisive for a few more years
