I'm thinking about adding the alarm to my configuration but had a couple of questions for people who have it.

Does the alarm honk or chirp when armed? Do the lights blink?

Initially I thought why spend $500 for the factory alarm when an aftermarket one would be cheaper, but then I realized I'd have to carry two key fobs, one for the MINI and one for the alarm. I guess it would be worth it to me to pay for the factory alarm just to carry the one key fob.

Also, if you have the alarm + comfort access, do you have to press any buttons before opening your car door? Or does the alarm automatically deactivate when you're in close proximity?
