It seems that in the past day or so Alta has changed their website. Its OK but, I liked the old one better. Why??? The new site DOESN'T show any pricing, just links to dealers.

I noticed the same thing. I like the new layout, but not having the pricing info is a pain.

The lack of pricing and very small font make for a less satisfactory site.

I understand the company's motive in wanting to support their dealers, but it encourages customers to leave (or buy other products) because most of the listed dealers do not have the Alta products (or all of them) listed on their websites.

If a customer finds a product on Alta's website that they are interested in and they have to go to a dealer's site to buy it, the customer does not want to have to be hassled by having to search for the product again and possibly not find it.

To solve this issue, each dealer's web site should have a section that displays all of Alta's current products (with prices). This is the page that should come up when the customer clicks on the dealer link on the Alta web site.

I would say to Alta that until their dealers adopt this idea, it is safe for them to post prices on their website. It's a good customer satisfaction thing.

Rule #1 on the internet: Customers are king... Don't frustrate them.

How about posting MSRP for products on the website?

Plus, they have misleading descriptions about some of the products:

The new air box top will fit perfectly into the bottom of your factory air box. The box will be sealed to the underside of the hood and prevent under hood heat from entering the intake stream.
http://www.altaminiperformance.com/p...ke/INTAKE.html

Umm, no.

That's the gap between the airbox top and the underside of the hood.

Andy!
You must be a tiny fella to fit inside your airbox with the camera while the hood is shut!

Tricky. You are henceforth known as "clever Andy".
I wonder what other neat pics you can get with a self timer under the hood?

I've seen Alta's site. I think they want to give mostly info on their product line and then
you can buy stuff from one of their distributors- not directly from them.
Would be good to get some retail prices instead of having to go to another site to pull it.
Pictures are nice mixed in with the text.

I understand that they want to support their dealers but, still would be better from marketing point to at least show msrp on their website. If dealer wants to discount that price thats up to the dealer which may promote potential buyers to purchase from dealers who do discount 5-10%.

This is all new to me, although they've been talking about only doing wholesale for about three months now. So they finally did it.

I have since (after seeing this thread) added a couple products that we did'nt have on our website and have added a new section on the website which lists all the products we sell by manufacturer alphabetically. It's not quite a hot link direct from the Atla dealer page, but it's a start.

http://www.outmotoring.com/brand_listing.htm

I have yet to add the Gauge Pod, because I'm not confortable with the actual installation/gauge options and wiring aspect of it and I can't provide the customer service for a product that I don't know much about. I'm also not thrilled that their front brake kit is just that, a "front brake kit". I would rather sell a complete set of front and rears, or at least have the option to have the rear calipers look like the fronts...rant, rant.

I also noticed that we are maybe the only dealer that they list that offers most of the stuff they sell and it's fairly easy to find. One thing you will notice is that we are only stocking the Intake and Oil Catch Can in the Blue (not the Red or Black-yet). We're not to the point that we can stock enough of each product and still afford to stock many of the other products they offer. Besides, most people link the Blue with Alta, not red or black.

Regards,

Aaron Cornaby,
owner

I like the changes you made to your site. Did notice that you had a picture of Alta Intake under Goodridge ss brakeline heading. Also like your pricing VERY much. I'm sure we will be doing serious business as soon as my baby gets here (9/12/03 build date). PS: We spoke on telephone last week about if you were going to be @ Runoffs.

Apexer, thanks for the heads up on the photo glitch....argggghhh that's my achiles heel, my software likes to default images to the first one in the alphabet for some reason, hence the (A)lta intake instead of the brake lines....Anyway got it fixed.

Stay in touch, hope to get you what you 'need' for your new toy!!
