de-chroming the coop

What are your suggestions for de-chroming the R50

I have a 2003 all black mini cooper with white bonnet stripes, and I'd like to try to remove some of the chrome.

I would like to change out the grille for the black honeycomb grille and that is going to require the special kit that outmotoring.com offers for the bottom section. Can the whole beltline all the way around the car be easily removed and painted or is there something that can go over it all?

I would also like to paint the 2 small chrome bars below the front grille (as seen in the picture..this is just an example pic) has anyone done this, and does it look good? Same thing for the similar chrome piece on the back bumper.

What is the best way to go about this?

Thanks

Get the black out kit from outmotoring, then try popping off everything else that you can, like the grill surrounds. I've done both and it looks great!
