It is kind of urgent ..

I have the HF compress kit but!
The piston is not moving at all.
Everything is attached to the tool right and man, it is just STUCK
Parking Brake off, Brake pedal fresh, Reservior open, etc...

I even took off the parking break springs from the caliper assembly..
Ugh

Anyone have any ideas wtf is wrong?? its getting H O T outside and i'm stuck on the FIRST corner......

Any help would be appreciated!

If you aren't already, actively attempt to turn the piston clockwise with the tool... it's certainly possible that you have a seized piston... but often they're just stubborn... but you definitely need it to turn to retract...

 

Yup tried to turn it clockwise, Two men in 20s are working on it, and it still wno't budge. Woah

 

Anyone know how to release the Parking Brake?
I unclipped the wire from the caliper and the piston shoots out even more now after doing that!

I think I found the problem! Parking break is NOT released all the way or something

Get it, its a life saver. Make sure to spray the caliper down with PB blaster, especially around that little boot that fits around the piston.

 

I had the same problem and ended up damaging the $150 'official' BMW tool. Eventually I was able to make it work, but it wasn't pretty. And no, the piston wasn't seized.

 

Are you sure you have the pins engaged in the holes in the piston?

Back off the thread that holds the flat plate opposite of the piston, the tool is probably just bound up.

I made it work.

I seriously thought the piston was seized and almost called it a day...

However, as I manually pumped the piston out (using parking brake assembly) and tried compressing it again, it worked!!! HEW

i use the HF tool at the track to change pads. sometimes it is simple.....hook it up and turn the handle....other times i have to apply pressure, back it off, reapply, repeat as necessary. i've just learned to not get frustrated when it doesn't go perfectly the first time. it still only takes a few minutes to do. i do understand your concern when it doesn't work like it's supposed to work. i don't know why. i just know that if i back off, then go again, it eventually works.

 

re: Left rear. Got the HF tool but can't compress the piston because the parking brake is not fully released. Any suggestions?
