JOHN COOPER WORKS Canadian Competition Edition

Hello All

First off, i want to apologise for my ignorance since i have posted this question in somebody else`s thread, i didn`t know that it was a forum acrilege...So my excuses..

So here again:

I am looking into buying a 2006 JCW Competition Edition. The car has 5000kms and is in good shape, aside from few scratches on the bumpers.

For those of you who don`t know, the competition edition is a limited series of 64 cars that were made for the canadian market, kind of a replacement for the inadmissible GP edition(US and Europe only).

My question is, what is a fair value for such a car. Any recent transaction prices would be appreciated.

Thank you.

What are they asking for the car? 5000Kms is barely broken in. I would suspect they're asking a lot.

There are two CE owners on NAM that might be able to help. You might consider PM'ing 20works4us, or works4me. However, I haven't been able to get ahold of either today.

Good luck.

I got an email from works4me, that CE is on craigslist at $33,900 at a dealer but didn't say which dealer, only 5,000km is awesome but scratches on the bumper seem strange, USA people probably think this is an outragous price, but up here that a very good deal, as long as it has no decs etc. If you can get it for any less I'd jump on it. What edition # is it?

Make that three CE owners on NAM (at least).

If a dealer is selling that JCW CE and it is a CPO car, that is all the better a deal as many CE's were first registered for the road in early 2007 so will carry CPO warranty until early 2013. That price for a CPO JCW CE with such low mileage is very very attractive, as #20 writes above.

Key point here is that the JCW CE is a fantastic MINI to own and if the price is right you shouldn't pass up a chance to snag one. Good luck!

Also X-Lease and out of province, but the big one is any accidents over $2000

Be sure to demand a CarProof Certificate from the seller. (much better than CarFax)

Hi ALL

Thank you all for your replies, they were much appreciated..And sorry for the delay in the reply.

I am now the happy owner of #47. Colour cherry red with a black roof.

Pics to come soon.

The ex-owner is a gentleman born in 1935, and barely drove the car. Hence the 4600kms...

This machine is the real deal. I am in love.

Pics to come soon.

hi again zigermann! Congratulations and welcome to the JCW Competition Edition club! Great to have another onboard... #47 now present and accounted for. And they did not make a lot of the run of 64 in red with BLACK roof, so your car is rare even among the rare!

I think the red with red roof is the sexiest of all, it just looks neat.

It is true that i have seen none red with black.

I am comtemplating a change of roof colour(Cherry red along with mirrors), please do not be mad at me, it is just a thought, what do you guys think?

I will be giving it(as i haven't chosen a name) a nice spa and a photo shoot tomorrow..

Individualization is great, but for a limited edition MINI I have to agree with Sacha. Keep it as is, or at least keep a contrasting roof as it is one of the things that really sets the MINI apart from all other cars on the road and historically always has. Looking forward to pics as i haven't seen any CE's in chili red with black roof. Somewhere there is an article listing the breakdown of how many CE cars were painted in each colour scheme... anyone have it handy?

This is an article on the CE and its features. To my knowledge there weren't any made with the Chili Red with Black roof. Perhaps the roof has been painted? Or maybe someone ordered it with a different roof. Might be worth some research, especially if it came from the factory with a black roof. Then it is the only one.

I tend to agree to keep it as stock as possible but I'm not the owner of your car. I have added a JCW strut brace to my car as well as a bit of custom decalling - white MINI wings on the sunroof, red mini MINI wings on the mirror caps, all easily removed if the next owner (no, it is NOT for sale) wants to return it to stock.

Congratulations, Zigermanzz. Welcome to the sickness that is called MINI ownership.

Sounds like a nice find. Where are you, anyways? Can't wait to see pix of your new ride.
