TPMS - Sort of confused

I recently had swapped over my 4 curb-rashed 4 S-lites with a clean set of 4. I had the 4 tires swapped over to the clean set. I noticed today my driver's side tire was fairly low. I checked the pressure, and indeed it was off. I checked the rest, and they were all off. I filled them up to the proper specs and reset the TPMS. It then dawned on me that maybe the fine folks at Good Year could have missed (and I told them) the TPMS. So I let 10psi out of the front driver's tire a drove for a bit. The TPMS didn't go off.

So now I'm wondering what's going on. Is there a better way to determine if they did/did not swap over the proper TPMS equipment? Don't the 05's have the TPMS in the ABS sensors?

Thanks,
Shane

Yes, your car have the indirect TPMS system. So that means no sensors in the wheels. The system just acts on the ABS sensors.

Kinda surprised your low pressure light didn't come on after you only let one tire out. Perhaps you need to drive a little further.

There's no special equipment for the flat tire monitor in the '05s. It goes by the rate of rotation of the wheels relative to each other as measured by the ABS sensors. What pressure were you running your other tires at? I run 30ish psi and my flat tire warning does not go off until one is ~10 psi.

Yeah I only drove for about 3 minutes, probably didn't go even half a mile, and had it under 35mph.

I'm running 38psi (on the RSAs) since that's what the sticker on my door jam calls for.

Maybe the problem is that I'm turning the key to position 2 (not turning the motor over/on), then setting the TPMS button. I'll try starting the car, then setting the TPMS, and then driving off (like you're apparently suppose to do).

Glad to know the car has an indirect monitoring system and not a direct monitoring system. I was worried the tire folks forgot to transfer sensors from my valve stem.
