R50/53 Odometer on Delivery
>>i think mine had 11 too. are these miles due to testing?? any one know why there are miles already on it? just curious.
I was told last night that my car would probably have about 18 miles on it when I take delivery because they take the car out for a test drive to make sure all is well then top the tank off and bring it back. I can't decide if this is a good thing or if they just use it as an excuse to go out for a drive.

The cars will have mileage on them when they arrive, this is due to testing, driving your car on and off the ship, onto the train for transport, onto the truck for delivery to your dealership, and any drives your dealership does to make sure the car is perfect when you come and pick it up. After the car is built, it will go through some QA testing to make sure everyhting is good. If it isn't, adjustments will be made to the car, and it will be taken to the test run to make sure it is good, and the tweaking will continue to make sure everything is right.
We at BMW Manufacturing have a 1 mile loop that looks like a sewing needle, it is straight with a circle at the end. We test cars on the track all day to make sure everything is kosher before the car leaves the facility. We also have a cobblestone testing center to make sure the suspension is up to the grade and etc.

We don't test MINI's at BMW Manufacturing, we just prep them here. We also don't drive them enough for them to stumble. We drive them such short distances (off the train, onto the truck, etc) that we would never run into the STUMBLE that is talked about. The track at BMW is for X5's and Z4's which are the cars we produce here.
Thanks

That was January 29th (I'll never forget the date because it's also my anniversary!) Now it has over 11,600 miles on it.
