Delivery time

Hello,

New to Nam.
I just took the plunge and said no to a Mazda 3 hatchback and ordered a Clubman S!
Dealer said 6-8 weeks. How long has everyone been waiting?

If your dealer has an allocated slot for tomorrow, figure 1 week to build, 1 day to a week to get on a boat, 2 weeks (East Coast) or 3 weeks (West Coast) travel time, 2-3 days at the Distribution Center (VDC), 1-3 days being trucked to your dealer, 1-3 days for dealer prep before you can pick up your new baby. Thats the minimum delivery time-table, and assumes no hold-ups with customs (pretty rare now) or at the VDC (that would be bad). Many dealers are way backed up on S Clubman models though - 6-8 weeks is not bad at all.

Call the dealer and ask your sales dude what your production week is.
That's needed to back into the delivery.

Hopefully this won't slow too many people down. I grabbed this link from the week 23 thread. Courtesy of quiksilver.

That really bites. Hopefully they can find other sourcing or people that are willing to break through the strike lines to deliver parts.

Looks like the Spanish "strike" is effectively over. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7450120.stm BBC says shipments are again being made. Not sure what impact was/is to MINI production though as it appears that parts shipments from Spain were stopped for a few days.

Ordered mine on 4/22. Currently it's on the boat scheduled to arrive June 22. Dealer told me that they felt the car would be expedited to the dealership once it arrives at port so that the car could be delivered/sold before months end. Fingers are crossed.

I ordered mine on March 16, and hoping to pick it up on June 28th. Called the dealer yesterday and they still can't confirm it will be ready on the 28th. Might be the first week of July?

Do you know what your completion date was?

I have placed an order for a Clubman here in Massachusetts, and was told the order is in what is called an "order bank" waiting for Mini in England to give the dealership more production slots.

This was last week that I put down my deposit (June 6th), and I was told to expect delivery by October. A very long time, yes, but I don't mind. Gives me time to get more money together for my down payment. :-)

Which dealer did you order from? As I understand it each dealer has a certain number of cars available per week, as they sell in excess of that the orders move out to future production weeks, or fill vacancies created by other dealers not selling their quota.

I ordered my car in mid May and unfortunately it's not scheduled for build until late June. The dealer negleted to mention this when I asked prior to ordering.

I ordered on 4/30 and my MA altered one of the cars he already had in the pipeline. I picked it up in West Palm on 5/31. Five weeks from walking in the dealer to order to walking in to pick up.....

sdavid, it's likely your deler intercepted a spec car and substituted with yours. That's how mine was ordered and delivered. Still, 31 days is freaky.
Dealer quotas are a wonderful thing.
Some here may want you dead.

Thanks for the reply, I'll lock the doors! I already had an 06, but still couldn't wait for the new one. Its sooooo much smoother....ride, power delivery and electronics. If it makes you feel better, I only had it a week and had to go on a week long trip. Home now, time to get this thing broken in...

Sdavid, the UPS man ain't a UPS man. He's a hitman sent by all the west coast buyers who have to wait till October for their Clubman.
Give us some Gallery shots.
Mine aren't great, but they're shots of the kiddo.

Ordered mine on 5/9 and got production week 28 which is July 6th. I ordered mine in RI at Inskip.

It really does depend on where you go.

You are in the right range...However;

If your car is being delivered through Brunswick GA, be prepared to wait a while once it hits the dock in the US. One week and counting here.

I put my money down on a Clubman on June 10 and have been told to expect delivery perhaps in October! My MA does not want to commit because the dealership has only so much "allocated" and they cannot get through to Mini to place an order at this time. It seems very unreasonable to me to have to wait as much as 5 months at one dealer and then hear about other dealers within the area having delivery times of 5 to seven weeks! Why the inconsistencies and what about customer service?

RadishAttack,
What is the difference between the 2008 vs. 2009 Clubman? I also assume you had a "problem" with MS regarding your original order. How are the sales and service at MA? Would you suggest we take this off-line?
Thanks for your advice.

I placed my order 6/14 with Tate Mini of Annapolis and got week #28. Was told to expect delivery late July/early August, but I'm thinking maybe mid August.

I test drove a couple of weeks earlier at MoS and was told by Tony, the GM, to expect an October delivery date. MoS didn't seem in a hurry to get back with me and Annapolis was very responsive so they got my business.

Also, Towson, MD Mini, Otto's and Main Line Mini's near Philadelphia quoted August delivery dates. As Annapolis and Baltimore are about the same distance from me I went with Annapolis because they let you put a larger amount of the purchase price on your credit card if you so desire.
