R50/53 2 people in an S, drives different?
2 people in an S, drives different?
I know it seems to be a rudimentary question as 2x the weight would make a difference but I really feel the difference with 2 folks in the car (myself and a passenger) The passenger being about 2/3rd my weight, Is that something others feel? Car just doesn't seem nearly as lively, Car is a 2006S.
Many thanks. Peter

I don't notice a difference with my wife, daughter or son ....but one of my pals weighs in at 320 lbs (!!) and there is definitely a difference with him in the car ...a whole lot less room too.

Yes, I noticed a real difference with just myself vs a passenger of say 180 or so. Part of the reason I went for a pulley. After the pulley the car felt stronger even with a passenger than before when solo.

I may be a little off but gas is about 6lbs per gallon. A tank full is a little over 1 hp loss. You diminish (best word I can think of) the hp by about 1 hp per extra 50lbs of weight. And I know there is a formula but I can not find it but I know we have some PHD's who can fill that in. So say 500 extra lbs is only a total of about 10 hp. But if think in terms of not the total your hp Mini has but where on the RPM range the HP is. Then you can see that 10 hp loss in stop and go traffic means you are only about 60-80 hp to use.
The most I've had is 5 including me, but it was only for about 3 miles.
Just digging up some old photos here. Please note that the mini was still a virgin in the modding world.

The boat itself is 16' 7" long, 7' 11" wide, weighs 320 lbs and the mast (big black rod on top) is 26' 6" long. Then there is the trailer.
Dont worry, I get A LOT of funny looks.
PS. It can tow it comfortably uphill at 80kmh in 4th gear.

Nice MINI! Nice Boat! :-) I received funny looks with my 9'6" surfboard on the rack.
As for weight, yes I feel a little difference with my 120lb wife in the car. But it's not much. However if it's cold outside, the Supercharger makes up the difference with cold air forcing. :-)

Extra weight does make a difference. At my last track day I had a friend ride with my for a session. He is 300+. I was about 5 mph slower down the front straight, and I had to take a few of the turns slower. The weight transfer was noticeably different. At the end of the session the front right brake was quite a bit hotter than normal as well.
Not powerboat. But it has a towing capacity of 500 kgs (1200 lbs or something) so its all good.
I notice it even when I take my back seats in and out. My girlfriend at 128lbs makes a huge diffrent. It all matters on how you drive the car. With two of my friends a total of 290lbs, the car feels the same if you drive it nice and easy. However, if you try to take off fast/ fast turns you even feel a weight diffrence of 50lbs.
