R50/53 BRITISH RACING GREEN PICS + OPINIONS PLEASE+ I added some in
Welcome! I love British Racing Green. That would have been my choice were it not for the fact that someone I work with already has one that color and both my cars right now are green. Felt like I was getting into a rut so I set my sights on blue.
Can't help you with pictures personally but I'm sure there are some in the Gallery or Member MINI's sections.

>>BRG is one of my all time favorites, for any car! I got DS because I'm not the best at washing my car all of the time. BRG with the Cordoba Beige leather interior is gorgeous!!
Thanx for the response
Yeah Cordoba Beige would be my first option too but they dont have that down here in Holland as a option yet on the MCS just on the MC which is weird i think.
BRG with white roof or black or body color? my fav is white roof

Here's a MC with BRG/WR with stripes, sunroof, rally lights and custom wheels. Just add the bonnet scoop to convert it (more or less) to an MCS.

Also check out the brown cordoba leather interior!

>>He as a newbee here and considering a brg what are your guys opinions about it
>>and could i see some pics too please

Welcome,
This has been discussed on many previous posts...
Search .....and you'll get plenty of opinions
IMHO...MINI BRG is not .... the "real" BRG.
Go find a pic of an older MG,Triumph or AH and you'll get the true BRG.
I like it...don't get me wrong...but it's MRG ( MINI Racing Green)
Peace,
D

I originally wanted BRG but changed to CR/W. Only reason I can think of is I was too cheap to pay the extra $400 for BRG. The first time I went to the MINIUSA web site and looked at the available colors, my favorite was Silk Green.....figures they'd drop my favorite.
MC (yes, it isn't an "S"
CR/W, Premium package, spoiler, foglights, white 16 inch runflats....scheduled for production 8-22-03.

I read a couple of stories posted here recently from Miata.net and another racing site, and both articles stated that there is no one "real" BRG. Historically, Jaguars sometimes raced with much darker versions, and others like MG had lighter versions. Basically, there's a range of acceptable green shades that will qualify as BRG.

GJR -is correct it is a range of colors not a single pantone color that is BRG.
We see this is in the posts all the time about the MINI BRG not being a true BRG color. BRG was started by the formula one teams in the 50's and 60's. Go look at old color photos of the British F1 cars back then, Cooper, BRM, Lotus they all look slightly different. The current Jaguar is painted a brighter shade of metallic green so it shows up on TV better, but its stilled called BRG.
The BRG Mini is beautiful, a great choice especially with white accents. It is one of those colors that years from now you will be happy with, unlike some of those odd colors that come and go like those purples you saw a few years back.

The other aspect of BRG is whether you like the solid color vs the metallic green of the MINI. In low light situations the MINI BRG is rather dark but it lightens with daylight. I think behind chili red and the silvers it is a very popular color for MINIs.
I will say that when I looked through many pages of member pictures on MCO it was rare to find a BRG in either MC or MCS. For some reason, CR, DS, EB, PS, IB, yellow, black came up much more.

This doesn't have 2004 model options. I haven't been able to find the configurator that does.

HISTORY OF BRITHISH RACING GREEN
hey thank you all for the response
and here i want to give you guys some information about the history of BGR
which is actualy pretty funny
The 1903 Gordon Bennett Trophy road race could not be held in Great Britain, although the United Kingdom was due to host it, as a result of concern over the deaths in earlier continental versions. The UK organisers, however, decided to run the event in Ireland and lobbied Irish opinion, including the Irish bishops. A special Act of Parliament was passed to allow road closures for the event and to give competitors a temporary exemption from the speed limits. One member of the House of Lords, Earl Spencer, commented that the debate on this piece of legislation was the first occasion on which all members of both houses had been in harmony on anything to do with Ireland. For the Gordon Bennett event the British entries were painted green, to mark the fact that the race was being held in Ireland, and the shade chosen became known as British racing green. The race is also significant since it laid down the basic rules on which modern Formula 1 racing is based.

The configurator BRG is WAAAAAY off from the actual color. While dark, the metallic properties pick up blue and gold highlights depending on the time of day and type of light on the car.

Sorry, all my photos are B/W. Have a BRG MCS (white top). Saw above they are popular, but have never seen another BRG on the road. After a few months, finally got around to a round of Zaino's. I was astounded. I have been a sucker for BRG for years. I also loved the Silk Green. Velvet Red looks like mud, and the Chili is quite handsome. White top is the only way to go, regardless. I would vote BRG over anything else, but I'm clearly a partisan. The Indy and Electric Blue would be second votes for me. I said the Chili Red was nice, which it is, but not the best in my book. I have always found the yellow disappointing. Black and silver are nice, but a little pedestrian. I have never found the BRG too dark or subtle in any lighting conditions. Good luck!
Dear Mini/BMW:
Please review the history of 'British Racing Green' in competition and note that it is NEVER metallic!!! I promise to buy an MCS at full list price if you introduce a rich, non-metallic green. I would refer you to the C- and D-type Jaguars of the 1950s for a nice reference shade.
Sincerely,
XAlfa
