Multi-Mini Families

I know some of you have more than one Mini - yeah, they're that good. Are they both optioned out the same or did you get one base and one more optioned? If they are different, who drives "the good one" or "the sporty one"? Could you post pics of them?

Our 07 MCS is my wife's daily driver, and I'm contemplating another, leaning toward the Clubman, as my current gas-sucking V8 is consuming $600+ per month. But I'm still considering the options - even the option of a base model as it'll qualify for a $1,000 environmental rebate here.

We have two. My wife drives a Chili Red w/black roof '07 MC, and I drive an all Astro Black '07 MCS. Hers is pretty basic, while mine is "optioned out" fairly well as detailed in my signature.

A Clubman is a good choice as it might be really great for road trips, for when you have extra adult-sized passengers, and for hauling items a little too big for a coupe. That way they can both be MCSs, although if you are looking for a good economical daily driver, a Cooper would serve nicely with very good mpg and it's own style of sporty driving dynamics. Either way, you'll be having a blast no matter what you motor in...that's the joy of a 2 MINI family (although it's different for me as my daughter drives the other MINI...we have two Coopers...and she's out motoring all the time so I seldom get to drive it).

Two MINI's here. My Justacooper is the "daily" driver (we both take mass transit to work). The Cooper gets to run errands and the occation run to work and back. The wifes Cooper S is more of the toy of the family. There are obvious limitations to owning two small cars. Home improvement is a little more challenging, lumber is not easily ported in a MINI. We have talked about getting the roof rack for one of the MINI's to make getting long items home a little easier.

However, we track and autocross them both from time to time.

Mine is fairly basic, her's is loaded, only options her's doesn't have are the sunroof and the computer.
mmmmm butt warmers mmmmm

Both my spouse(Hottie Chocolate) and I have purchased Minis in the past two months. Hers in March and mine in April. See our signatures for options and gallery for photos. Hers a base HC Clubman with many options and mine a Astro Black Cooper S with most options. We plan to modify both of them as money permits.

Two MINIs here, very different cars though. Hers is an 07, her very first brand new car ever. After about 6 months of begging and fighting to get a turn to drive it, I bought my own... but, I HAD to have a convertible, and couldn't afford brand new. So, I am now the happy owner of an 05 cabrio. Both non S, having a hard time staying out of trouble as it is.

Here's a pic of the duo:

We had two for four years (my modded '02, her bone-stock '04, both S), but I sold mine a little over a month ago and now drive an '06 M3. We traded my wife's in on an '08 MCSa, and she loves it.

We have one each, currently we have a spare as well as we havn't sold Quentin yet. All of the MINIs have been speced similarly, but we have one MC and one MCS at a time.

In theory the one with the longest commute gets the most efficient car. Currently my commute is longest, so I get Tristan (07 MC), but breaking in Shawn (08 MCS) I'm driving him daily. The way things are shaping up, Shawn is going to be just as efficient as Tristan, in that case I might drive him more often.

We have two 2006 'S' convertibles. They're both optioned-out (basically everything except JCW, NAV, and the DPSM stereo). The only difference between the cars (besides colour) is that mine has the garage door opener and hers doesn't.

Here's mine:

And hers: (Hers has "Captain America" stripes on the bonnet, boot and sides now, as well as "RIQUI" license plates, but I don't have a good current picture yet)

Ours are optioned out about the same way except hers is an auto and mine a stick. Pics are in my gallery. At some point, we would like to trade one for a Clubman as the extra room would be nice. The main issue is who will be the one to trade in their MINI.

I'm still working on my husband to get a Clubman. Tried again last night, but I still haven't turned him to the Dark Side of the MINI-verse yet. He's still stuck on his dumb old '07 BMW. And says we have too many vehicles already.

We have 2 Minis as well. My wife has a 2006 MCS in Hyper Blue and decked out, while I just bought a 2008 Cooper in Pepper White with a black roof. Its pretty base, but I don't mind it at all, I love both cars. I love how mine handles, and I love her speed with the supercharger.

Ours are in my sig.

His MCS is used for autocross so he has better wheels and tires for that. His is of course the sporty, faster one.

I already have a CAI because my car was used to make the prototype for this one.

They're both our daily drivers, though I work from home a lot. Mine is used most for grocery shopping, long trips, and anytime my husband doesn't 'need' to drive his manual S.

My wife got hers first - '05 solid gold MC - light on the options (but not bare bones) I just got my '08 MCS this week only thing missing is nav/rear fogs - made the mistake of letting her drive it - her next one will be an S for sure.

Mine....

Hers...

Ours....

Bought mine and hers, a pair of new JustaCoopers in June, 2006. Daily commuter cars. I optioned mine out with Sports, Premium, and CW packages. She got Premium and Checkmate packages. Both with CVT.

In May of 2007, we added the '05 MCS Convertible as a weekend car. It's fully loaded.

All three have been modded... some of them more heavily than others.

We also have 2.
When my fiance and I met I had a 2005 JB/B MCSC (premium and cold weather packages) and he had an 04 DS/B MCS (all three packages and navigation). His had more options then mine, but I had a 'vert. He traded in his MINI in July of 06 (with 116k on the clock) for a Civic Si. So we were back to having only one MINI. Then in Nov of 06 I got in an accident where my MINI was totalled.
My 05 got replaced with an 06 PW/B MCSC (all three packages). In June of 07 we were pleasantly surprised and won a 2 year lease of a MY/B MC. So now we're back to 2 MINIs (the MINI gods were trying to tell us something).
I use my MINI as my DD and the fiance uses his Si as his DD and we use the MC on weekends and for long trips (since we are on limited mileage).

Did you meet because of the MINIs? Is there a story here?

Yes we met because of the MINIs...our local MINI club actually. We'll be married in Sept of 2009 with plenty of MINI Cooper photo ops.
