Dynamic Stability Control?

Due to numerous clutch woes I'm getting rid of my 2007 MCS and thinking of ordering an 08 MCS automatic. How good IS the DSC without getting the 17" wheel/tires? I swapped out my runflats on my car and liked the ride much better. Will I be wasting money on the DSC if I don't get the 17" or go w/ non-runflats again?

I'm not sure I understand your question. You're comparing wheel/tire size with a yaw control system that keeps the nose of the car pointed where it should be (Brakes individual wheels, something NO human can do).

Sorry... I guess I was thinking the DSC would stiffen suspension somehow. So it has nothing to do w/ the "ride" itself, and provides a safer steering mechanism with either 16 or 17" wheels?

If you're going to be ordering a new one the point might be moot. I think the DSC is standard on new orders now.

It's still standard for $500.

Oops, just rechecked and looks like it's only standard on the Clubmans. Sorry, we now return you to your regularly scheduled confusion.

So would this mean the 09's will cost an extra $500 regardless?

Yes, increasing the safety of your car is worth spending $500.

i'm not sure. I got the info from motoringfile.com but they didn't specify if it would increase the base price or not.

IIRC, a few people were having trouble with a grinding into 2nd gear that was sometimes attributed to glazing of the clutch and other times treated by a warranty replacement of the transmission. I never heard a definitive answer as to what the actual cause was, but it only affected a minority of 2007s.

So, hopefully 2008s are not affected by this problem

Mine has a build date of 2/5 and while it's not a grind per say, I can occasionally feel 2nd ummm not meshing correctly.

Three clutches and/or flywheels in one year was not fun. Yes, it was always due to the squeal sound from 3rd to 2nd gear. The weird thing was it started doing it after the 3rd clutch, and even making a louder noise in reverse for about two weeks. Then suddenly it "repaired itself." Maybe my car was trying to get me to keep it. No can do!

Not all of us have had the problem, as Robin says. Mine is a week 3, 2007 build, and I've never (knock on wood) had the slightest sound. It seemed at the time that those who had it, had it bad, and the rest of us never had anything at all.
