Our MINI has a vibration which sounds like it's coming from behind the dashboard. It occurs at 3,000 rpm either going up or down the tach, both under load or unloaded, independent of vehicle motion. It seems to be a harmonic vibration which drops off very rapidly on either side of 3,000 rpm and sounds like maybe plastic vibrating. Anybody have a similar experience? It's starting to drive my wife nuts.

 

I have noticed it too, trying to track it down but i agree on the nerves thing

 

i had the same problem. i took it to the dealer and they were able to pinpoint the noise. my ma told me there was a plastic ball rolling around and he took it out. no more noise now.

Mine does it too every now and then! I made a post about it a few threads down. Haven't figured it out yet, but it doesn't bother me too much

 

I gave Lewis a good whack with my fist this morning - right behind the tach - and he seems to have quieted down. He was driving me bonkers though. Didn't dare take it to the dealer - for sure would have blamed it on my kuda mount (not it) or something else I've touched. Last time they couldn't find the buzz in the upper toggle switch, but left a nice greasy fingerprint right where I told them it was. Thanks, guys!
