My darlin other half is now firmly convinced that a major catastrophe has occurred. Since the big power blackout included our Mini dealership, his fevered brain has conjured the certainty that the order for his new baby was wiped out of the dealership computer and is floating around in cyber space - never to be seen again. This disaster is percolating around in his cranium right alongside the delusion that the boat bringing his Mini across to the USA will end up at the bottom of the deep blue sea and little fishies will be using his lovely dream car as a portapotty. I am now busily compiling a darling little cookbook that lists all kinds of delicious recipes who's main ingredient is prozak!! "Supper's ready, dear!"
October (delivery time) can't get here soon enough!

hahahaha! I know just what you mean. My son-in-law called my daughter from Augusta, GA last night (he's in the Army) and his first comment was about my MINI possibly being held up in NY. Believe me, I've been thinking about it myself. But from what I understand the port is actually in NJ so it might not have been effected. Whine, whine, whine. Why does this always happen to me???

Ticketgtr....you kill me!!!!
This'd be rediculous...except, believe it of not, the TRICOLOR, carrying lots of cars (no MINIs, we eventually found out) actually did sink in the English Channel as many of us were waiting for our MINIs. Boy, did we freak out!!!!!!! Then, once here in the States, my MINI had to be trucked through an ice storm in the South. Imagine the nightmares that conjured up!!! Once the power's back, hubby needs to make the appropriate calls to reinstate his shattered sanity. Keep serving those "special" dishes of yours!!!

Let me get this straight. The North East has a blackout for a few hours - so now all production in the UK stops. All ships at sea sink that carry MINI's. No trucks that ferry MINI's can get gas because lack of power for what… 5 hours. No dealer will be able to phone a customer about a MINI again.

Get him medicated, put him to bed and everything will be better in the morning.

I do believe the world is still spinning on its axis and the universe is not collapsing.

Nothing like anticipation to stir up the right side of the brain to create all kinds of worries! I had to rent a car, and drive three hours to pick mine up, and just barely got there before closing. I was sure someone had already walked into the dealership and bought my DS/DS MCS before I got there... in spite of the deposit! Didn't happen, she was sitting out front, all clean and shiney, just waiting for me. It was a sweet four hour ride home!

Hmmmmm --- just had a really good laff. Printed out pic showing mini being driven by mutant bat boy. Since it looked so much like my third hubby, my current spouse is now convinced that his car has been swiped! LOL

Geez, batboy has been around for ages... AND HE'S STILL A BOY! I remember as a child reading the headlines when they "found" batboy in a deserted cave somewhere along with the Dead Sea Scrolls and Oprah Winfrey's long lost metabolism or some crazy mess like that. I was so young, but I remember thinking, "wow, Batman had a kid?! This really IS big news".
But I guess now batboy is an adolescent, mastering the skilled art of driving, while maintaining his BADbatboy reputation of stealing cars and leading local law enforcement on high speed chases- all part of his ploy to impress the ladies and seduce them in that sultry beetnick way only a half-bat half-human can.

So I say... GO BATBOY, IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY! GET YOU SOME BAT-LOVE!

Just to help his paranoia, it was only about 10 months ago that the TRICOLOR, a car transporter carrying lots of expensive EuroIron, was sunk in the English Channel, and then hit SEVERAL times, as documented in this posting.. Of course, the TRICOLOR was inbound to the UK when the incident happened. But it was scheduled to pick up a boatload of MINIs if it had arrived in Southampton. A number of folks had their car deliveries delayed because of the demise of the TRICOLOR.

So take it easy on him, sometimes people are really out to entrap the paranoids.

Am I the only one posting who feels FF's pain? Thankfully he has a wife who knows good medications for him. It is soooo easy for those of us who now have our MINIs to forget the wrenching horrors and night sweats many of us went through imagining the fate our new cars might be facing.

For my part, the heat wave in England left me wondering the effects on people driving mini to transport, off at the dock...you get the picture. This goes beyond sweat all over the interior. I was thinking rage and an urge to destroy. Then there is tracking the ship and seeing all the potentials of storms on what I imagined to be a leaky Liberian tanker. I won't even comment on what could have transpired on the docks in Jersey out of respect for Jerseygirl.

Who, I wondered might I have offended at the dealer to the extrent of sabatoge there? Would they use it as a demo and give it to an SUV owner hateful of small cars? The list goes on.

If it helps your husband's condition at all, Ticketgtr, add me to the list of those who found my new baby in perfect shape, just as ordered, and with only 6 miles on it. 1300 miles later (in two weeks) and I find no problems.

Yes, briefly up the dosage but be sure and help him climb down so he is not too much of a zombie/bat boy to enjoy the arrival.
