I've done a bit of work on my car, spent way too much money, and I'm now looking in retrospect at what I've done and what is percieved as optimal for the MC. Based on all of your experience, what would you say is the best mod done so far in the following catagories

Intake
Manifold (would you do it again if you have)
Exhaust
Ignition
Suspension
Turbo or NOS

I can answer I'm getting the fat valve head regardless. Also, I wouldn't recommend the ported polished head that you can get from the various vendors. made little to no difference and put me out 2k.

I also realize that most of this is spread around on the various threads... I'm just lazy.

Finally, does anyone else out there do most, if not all, of their own work? When I swapped out the head it was actually very straighforward despite the cramped quarters

Could you elaborate on the fat valve head? Sounds tasty.

Here's a link to a UK site doing it and I believe either mini mania or madness is working on one too.

MC Engine mods

rumor has it that it will increase air flow through the engine by ~30%. That tranlates a more efficient pump (engine) so more HPs

In the end of the month an MC Venom kit will be taken thru the paces and you should be able
to safely ad 25-50 hp with a computer angel watching over your baby.......................................$ 700-1300.00

If you have any questions regarding the above product feel free to call me.

Could you elaborate on the "computer angel"? Sounds creepy.

Xalfa.....

the Venom computer will check all the parameters.

O2 sensor checked for lean or rich condition......
TPS checked for throttle angle.......
Injectors controled by the Venom computer....
RPM monitored.....

All these parameters are checked while you blasting down your favourite road. If the computer reads a lean condition
it will send a signal to the injectors telling them to speed up the delivery of fuel....if no more fuel is available
the Venom computer will shut down delivery of N2O.

Thanks for the info. Sounds interesting, but I just don't think I'm a nitrous kind of guy.

Until the radiator bottle leaks and you overheat.

Go Ronvan! 2Cool came to an explicitly "non S" thread looking for trouble and he found it.

I thought his post was a bit unproductive and condescending.

I too agree with you Ron. It seems that 2cool4school may be a young dropout with his maturity level?

First off, Ron, I don't know what fantasy land you are living in, but my MCS does not "leak radiator fluid and overheat" Secondly, if a person is looking to mod a Cooper they should have just bought a Cooper S. The Cooper S has a superior design with forged parts as opposed to the base Cooper. So you can be super defensive, but my comment was very serious. A cooper is limited in its mods much more so than an S. Isn't it funny how it seems smarter people (me) always seem to prove the dumb ones (you) wrong? And now, the traditional smiley face which rubs it in.

That is an incredibly rude statement. The Cooper S is not that much different than the base Cooper. Same exact engine, but with a supercharger and a few other small differences. I see no reason why the Cooper could not be modded as much as the S.

Maybe because you are uninformed? I am not calling you dumb, but are somewhat ignorant. The base cooper's parts can not handle as much modification as the S due to the build quality. Not to say you couldn't spend over 100k on your base Cooper to prove me wrong, but than you really wouldn't be modifying the car. You would be building a new one.

Excellent idea!!!!!!!!! I can't wait and go to out and buy an MCS now...

2C4S - there are alot of Cooper owners here that want to modify our Coopers. If I want pure speed, I'll buy an EVO or a 911. The answer of buying an MCS is an old one to us here...

woah woah woah! Wait a minute, buddy. I'm not ignorant and this is not a place for you to be getting so personal. Cool it down a bit man. Please just show me proof that the parts on the base Cooper are not the same quality. What do you have to base that on?

I believe the engine and tranny on the MCS are indeed different - more suited for higher torque and HP.

>>First off, Ron, I don't know what fantasy land you are living in, but my MCS does not "leak radiator fluid and overheat"

If you were as observant as you are irrational you would have noticed that my comments were followed with a <wink> and a <smile.> They were not intended as factual statements about YOUR particular vehicle. I was poking fun at some of the known problems with the 'S' because you had imposed your "Should have got an S" remark in a thread clearly intended for people with a Cooper.

>>Secondly, if a person is looking to mod a Cooper they should have just bought a Cooper S.

So, people shouldn't mod their Coopers? In your opinion, their only reasonable mod is to buy a Cooper S?

>>The Cooper S has a superior design with forged parts as opposed to the base Cooper. So you can be super defensive, but my comment was very serious. A cooper is limited in its mods much more so than an S.

I'm aware of the design differences between the Cooper and the Cooper S, and I don't feel I was being "super defensive." I also agree that there are many more mods for an S than a base Cooper, but that was not the subject of this thread. The author obviously already owns a Cooper and was interesting in mods for it. Your comment may have been "very serious," but it was also rude.

>>Isn't it funny how it seems smarter people (me) always seem to prove the dumb ones (you) wrong? And now, the traditional smiley face which rubs it in.

'nuff said! Peace!

Man, what was this thread about again?

I rarely click on the S threads. not because I feel excluded, but it doesn't really interest me. I don't aspire to have an S. Am I an underachiever? I really don't get why an S owner would enter a thread to attack the non-S crowd unless they felt threatened or excluded. Or do they really think they are better than us and feel that they have to rub it in?

I live in the city and rarely need to go faster that 45 or 50 mph. I doubt an S would make a bit of difference. I like that I get better gas mileage. I have no regrets that I chose a Cooper, yet I wish my car had a bit more low end power. Is that so wrong?
