Did the dealer mess up my JCW Aero kit install?

Yes or no? You tell me. Or am I just being picky? The SA told me it was acceptable and said he didn't have another JCW car on the lot to compare it too. Can someone comment on this?

the fitting seems uneven to me. And there seems to be 2 different tones of yellow, not sure if its due to the lighting. Reject.

Looks like you are missing the lower trim on the grill, hard to tell in these shots though. See http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...14&hg=51&fg=95 Item #9

If it's the gap you speak of, heh, thats nothing.

I'm only complaining about the gap. The kit came with the wrong mesh grill that came in the box, so they're already in the process of ordering me a new one. The paint looks good in person, but I am just concerned about the gap. I just don't want to accept it if it's not perfect, or at least not normal.

i reckon the main issue is if the gap will affect the practical use/performance/safety of having the aero kit. Aesthetics alone is bad enuf.

I got the aero kit cos i think the car looks better with it. I wont accept the uneven gaps too. It just kills the look.

Reject, sorry dude but that gap and the fender to lower valence alignment sucks. I would not pay until it is right or if you have paid get a commitment from the dealers shop that they will make it right.

If that is what folks think is normal, they are not going to the right body shops. That is crappy work.

Color match looks close, but only accept if your happy with it, it will fade to different tones if it is not exact.

Remind me not to go to your dealer. A fit like that is not acceptable for an oem part. The whole purpose of oem is to have a perfect fit every time. This makes it look like you have a carbon hood with that gap. You should take it back.

Yeah, I would not accept that at all. Looks like they just slapped it on there. It should look like this...

Bet it wasn't the dealership who did it...did they farm it out to a body shop or did a tech do it? It's off, doesn't line up...be up front with them...see if you can get them to 3m it while you are at it....since they will have to take it off anywho. Those lower airdams will take a rock beating

Thanks for the comments guys. When the SA calls me today, I am going to tell him that I am unpleased with the front bumper install. Yesterday, he did give me a 15% discount on the install and seemed very accommodating to make me happy. He gave me the discount because the mesh grill was mis-packaged NOT because the front bumper was misaligned.

After sleeping on it, I just feel he wasn't looking out for my best interest. I already paid for the kit and install, but I am going to leverage my customer review survey to make sure the re-do it. Thanks for everyone's input.

Darren

After shopping all my local dealers, the kit and install came out to about $2,500.

I had the JCW kit installed at the port, and the gap is fairly common... in fact, I really haven't seen an r56 without the gap. I would only nitpick if its really bad.

I had a similar issue with the JCW side skirts. I had to disassemble and purchase new fasteners to correct the dealers mistake. It save me two trips to the dealer. Now it's great.
