At the risk of offending Solid Gold owners, I pose the question... Are anyone buying Gold MINI's? While I was initially fond of the idea of a Gold MINI, having seen one close-up, I must confess that it did very little for me. It just didn't seem, well.... Gold enough. Or maybe its too Gold. I can't figure it out.

And while I'm on the topic of colors, why can we get only get SOME of the MC colors on the MCS (and vise-versa)? Did anyone besides me want a Velvet Red MCS or a [ADD YOUR SPECIFIC DESIRE HERE]? Marketing bastards.

What colors do you want in the future? What colors should go away?

If they paint it, we will come.

That is much like the Scion Plan... the xA has a beautiful BLUE and it is not avaiable for the xB...
The xB has it's own Blue.

Give a manufacturer enough time and the color issues will be non-existant.

these first 2 years have been pretty informative for mini seeing that the silk green was a bust and the velvet red may have been a bust as well.

I believe that MINI should produce a PURE Titanium White, a True Green, Try a Flashy Yellow as opposed to their whitewashed yellow, try an orange and a purple, brighten their silver and offer a sage or putty color.... oh yea...and put more hardener in their paint.

I've had to order an MCS basically because I absolutely have to have Dark Silver, otherwise I would be perfectly happy with the regular MC.

Here in the "MINI capital of the world" I have yet to see a new MC in Solid Gold. I think this color has been dead on the water since it was introduced a few months back...it is a bit tacky for this car.

MINI let go of 2 nice colors (SG and VR) to bring this disaster called Solid Gold.

I doubt it is selling and don't be surprised if MINI pulls the cord on the Solid Gold by the time the December production begins.

MINI, bring back VR (In a more Candy apple looking shade) and also make Orange and Cobalt Blue available on the MCS.

I must confess. When I saw the color in the adverts and in the show room, that color nearly made me throw up. But seeing one in person out in the natural sunlight quickly changed my mind. MINIs are very beautiful in gold.

I've seen ONE solid gold MC on the street (in a parking lot actually). I've seen several at various dealers. While the Gold and Black is a very sharp combination, it just doesn't work on this car. Before I'd seen the gold, I thought that it would be more of a champagne color along the lines of the classiness of the DS on the S. It isn't. It's just plain tacky gold. Ick.

Why did they get rid of Silk Green and Velvet Red? Two really nice colors! I would have ordered a Silk Green/Silk Green S if I'd had the option!

I certainly don't mean to offend anyone here that might have bought a Gold MINI, but I think the color could have been a few shades lighter. It just doesn't do the car justice...

I refuse to call it "Solid Gold" as they clearly pirated the Omni Gold of my beloved "antique". It looks so pretty close to sunset---my Omni, that is. I find the MINI too round for the color, and I think that Dodge should sue MINIUSA for color theft.

Actually the Gold color is very similar to the one offered in the mid 1980's Mercury Topaz (a.k.a Ford Tempo)

Horrid. MINI pull the plug on this one!

I would echo the above sentiments and also add that, in addition to a gold i few shades lighter.. it would probably also have looked good if done a few shades darker. The gold they have seems to fit right into that BLAH zone.

I would also like to see a dark navy cooper.

It's not gold, it's Kraft Caramel and it doesn't work.

Didn't like in in pics, but saw one the other day and was suprised that it looked quite nice. Perhaps it was the spot it was parked - overlooking the beach in Santa Cruz, but both the wife and I thought it looked good.
The dash, however, was swirly and sparkly and altogether hideous...

For a color that doesn't work, look at some of the new WRX's - ugh! Some nasty mustard yellow/gold derivative.
But I digress...

Saw a Gold w/ Black Roof at the dealership last Saturday, and I personally didn't care for it. I agree that it would be better in a stronger/bolder color. Ditto for the LY. It's not a bad color, but I think of the MINI as one of the few cars that can pull off a really bright strong canary yellow. Was surprised to see LY was more subdued.

One of the folks over at Metroplex MINI is currently over in Europe, and he's seen VR MCS's over there. If it had been available here, I would probably gone VR/W on my MCS.

VR has never ever been available in the MCS. Not here not anywhere else.

I was in UK the last three weeks and saw zero gold, zero VR. In fact there were very few MCS and certainly there is no VR MCS. In Europe the better sellers are Mini ONE and MC. MINI diesel is new.

In my area of Hawaii few gold are sold but there are some.

I fall into the "didn't like it 'til I saw it" category. With the black roof, it looks pretty good in direct sunlight. The gold somehow brings out the chrome.

I think they should definitely bring back VR, turn up the Yellow, and make BRG less black.

And navy blue would look great, <imho>. Bueno suggestion.

If Silk Green had been available for the S I would have gotten it. I think it suits the car very well. Classy fun.

I saw a Gold in the showroom of the dealership and, ya, it looked pretty bad. Later, at the Italian Job premier there was a gold and white. It did make a statement in the natural surroundings. I thought it was a satisfying color combo and that's about it. I really would have prefered if they kept VR or SG. Also the BRG should be a non metallic paint IMO.

When MINI decided to get that color, they were greatly inspired by:

GOLDMEMBER!

So I guess if you are a fan of Austin Powers´ enemies, then that is your MINI

I don´t like any gold car, call it MINI, Chrysler or whatever, it just doesn´t look good on any car.

I had a friend ask me about the yellow the other day. She thought the car would look nice in a very pale, butter yellow. I thought that sounded nice, but maybe a little too VW bug style?

Also had another friend tell me that he recently saw a billboard for the new cooper color, which was like an aqua-marine shade?????????? I know he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about, but what do you guys think he mistook teo be aqua-marine? I told him he was thinking of electric blue or silk green but he swore it wasn't one of those.

I think if you put a nice pair of black gloss wheels with a decent lip on a Gold MC, it might look very interesting. Especially if it was lowered and tinted. And with an aero-kit? Hmmmm....

I was just recently told by a knowledgeable owner that 2 new colors forthcoming are orange and aqua. I don't know where the info came from and I don't really keep up on the stable of colors available, but it sounds like it might be for real. Personally, I think some of the more bold New Beetle style collors like that would be cool too...

Personally, I am not a fan of the gold. Then again, I dislike gold in general. A metallic champagne color would be very nice indeed.

Color musings....

metallic pale blue/silver
metallic grasshopper green
