yes, and um... no???

i bought my first MINI Cooper "off the rack", with the exhaust tip already on it. when i special ordered my second MINI (Cooper S), I made darn sure the tips were on the list. visually, it makes all the difference in the world and worth every penny ($120-ish for the S-tips). since both my MINI's came with the tips on, I don't know if it changes the sound any. (I don't think so, though).

hope that helps!

I'm doing this now. Mine (pair for S) were about $85, shipped from Mini of Morristown. I painted the inside w/ hi-temp flat black paint (baked etc.) and when I put them on, I discovered that the thread in the set screw hole on the right tip was stripped. Yesterday, I got some more screws, hoping it was the screw, not the hole - no such luck.

I think my next try will be to tap the hole out to the next larger size. It looks like the next size bigger from M6 is 1/4" - should be able to find that. If tapping out the hole doesn't work, I'll call MofM on Tuesday and see if I can convince them to send me another one .

Oh, don't let my experience discourage you from doing this mod. I am the master at turning a 5 minute project into one that requires a 3-day weekend to complete. It doesn't help that I am trying to accomplish this all under my wife's radar. She would think I'm insane for spending $85 and all this time for bigger, shinier exhaust pipes .
