GermanFilters.com, anyone?

Has anyone bought from GermanFilters.com? I ordered 2 oil filters for my 2008 Mini S model, and the filters I recieved don't look like the stock filter. All the pics of the stock filter I have seen has a zig-zag in the pleated filter media, while the Mann filter I received doesn't. Can anyone double check the part number(HU 711/51) that I received? I don't want to open this thing up and have the wrong filter. The nearest MINI dealership is 120 miles away, so I can't get a stock filter if it's wrong. Thanks!

OEM filter is pleated and has the "zig-zag" pattern. I just went to the garage to check that, I have a couple of OEM spares. I would not use a filter that doesn't look the same.
I got mine from Classic MINI (NAM vendor) for about $8 each, which includes the NAM 20% discount. Part# 11 427 557 012

Yes, but the OP has a second-gen MINI, which uses a different filter.

I ordered from them for my 07 MCS and it worked just fine... Is it just the design on the filter element you are worried about? Or is there something else that makes you believe that it won't fit/filter correctly?

I have a feeling they will work just fine...I had ordered a case of 6, but once I saw they did not look the same, I talked with german filters. I was assured they would fit, but that i could send them back if I wanted. To satisfy my piece of mind, I sent them back and ordered from classic mini

Personally, after opening up the housing and putting in the classic mini filters (which are the white ones) i think the german filters (the yellow ones with straight vertical lines) would work...but personally I would rather not put it in anyways...the white ones seem cleaner, while the yellow seem like the material would fall apart in the oil (I'm sure it wouldn't, but again piece of mind )

I just wanted to double check the part number before I open it up. Did the filters they sent you have the same part number(HU 711/51) as I received? The design of the filter media doesn't really bother me, it looks like all the other oil filters I have ever seen. I'll be changing the oil more often than MINI calls for, so if the filters will work, I'll keep using them. I noticed that the filters I received only come with one o-ring, and it look like it fits on the filter cap. Is something else supposed to come with them? Smaller O-rings, or more gaskets or something? I'm just paranoid, I guess!

OEM filters come with an o-ring for the filter housing cap and a crush ring for the oil pan plug.

You will need the cooper crush rings...i had ordered 4 from mini mania, but now that I sent the filters back and got the others from classic, which come with the crush ring, I have 4 extras...i bought them for 2.95 each, but PM if you are interested in the ones I have for cheaper

Always replace the crush washer. But using it twice once in a while won't hurt anything.

2 filters sent from germanfilters.com and one has been installed. It fit just fine, looked just fine, came with an o-ring which fit just fine.

I did not replace any crush washer. Really, I didn't know you had to.

I have no runs, no leaks, no errors.

I change my oil at the 7500 mark in between the freebie 15000 marked ones.
